The global finals of the 6th Chinese Show for Foreign Primary School Students were held in Tianjin on Sept 19.

Liu Jianqing, deputy director of the , attended the event alongside Tianjin officials. The jury included the head of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching ( ), a CCTV Children's Channel host, and a foreign teacher from BFSU.

83 contestants from 70 countries and regions worldwide took part in the competition, together with their escorts, Chinese partner kids, and outstanding former Chinese Bridge participants.

With the theme "Chinese, Joy & Fun" and the storyline "Discover Tianjin, Discover China, Discover the Future", the event enables young participants to learn and compete through fun activities.

During the 12-day program, contestants visited iconic sites, including the Palace Museum and the Great Wall, and explored urban landmarks and new energy exhibition halls for immersive cultural and tech experiences. Building bridges with the Chinese language and sailing with childlike hearts, these young messengers plant seeds of friendship across the globe.

A strategic cooperation agreement was signed between Yu Yunfeng, director-general of the , and Meng Zhongjie, president of Shanghai International Studies University ( ) on Sept 18.

Under the agreement, both sides will deepen cooperation in high-level talent training for international Chinese language education, the integrated development of "Chinese +" programs, and digital and intelligent empowerment for international Chinese language education.

The two parties aim to deliver more accessible and high-quality Chinese language learning services for Chinese language learners and users worldwide.

A delegation led by Yang Zhou, deputy director-general of the CLEC, visited Türkiye and Mongolia from September 7 to 11.

During the visit to Türkiye, the delegation reached an intention to sign a Chinese language education cooperation agreement with Türkiye’s Ministry of National Education.

They exchanged views with Türkiye’s Higher Education Council for Assessment, Selection and Placement Center on the alignment and recognition between the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) and Türkiye Foreign Language Exam (YDS). The delegation also attended a forum hosted by Boğaziçi University on integrating Chinese language education with academic and vocational training.

While in Mongolia, the delegation held in-depth talks with Mongolia’s Ministry of Education to implement the memorandum of understanding on Chinese language education cooperation between the two countries. They attended the opening ceremony of the 2+2 Joint Programme for International Chinese Language Education at the National University of Mongolia and the opening of the Seminar on High-quality Development of Chinese Language Teachers in Mongolia. The delegation also witnessed the inauguration of the Mongolian Chinese Language Education Association, the Institute of Young Mongolian Sinologists and the Mongolian Alumni Association for the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship. A new agreement on joint undergraduate training for International Chinese Language Education was renewed with the National University of Education of Mongolia as well.

Besides, the delegation joined a Teachers' Day symposium hosted at the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia, where more than 70 Chinese teachers and volunteer teachers stationed in Mongolia took part.

The 2026 training program for local Chinese language teachers from Latin America and the Caribbean kicked off in Santiago, Chile, on September 4. Around 250 participants from various countries across the region took part in the event.

Hosted by the Regional Training Center for Local Chinese Language Teachers in Latin America, the two-day training focused on digital Chinese language teaching, innovative classroom practices, continuing education pathways for local teachers, and key challenges in language instruction. Lecturers from universities in China and Latin America held in-depth exchanges with participants.

Roberto Lafontaine, director of the CLEC Foundation – Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, stated in his address that, tailored to the practical demands of regional Chinese language teaching, the training would further strengthen the development of local teaching teams and support the high-quality growth of Chinese language education across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Local Chinese language teachers serve as the cornerstone for the sustainable development of international Chinese language education. Evolving from trainees to trainers and upgrading traditional classroom teaching with digital technologies, this growing workforce continues to fuel the localization of Chinese language education in the region.

The welcomed the contestants from the competition on September 10.

Young participants across the globe embarked on an immersive journey through millennia of Chinese civilization. They explored a special exhibition showcasing the glorious history and remarkable development of the program over the past 25 years. The interactive experience zones featured Chinese calligraphy, traditional folk music and classic costumes, allowing the contestants to engage with traditional culture firsthand, and deeply experience the unique charm of Chinese civilization.
