The video contest of the "Poetry Connects the World: A Global Celebration of Classical Chinese Poetry" has wrapped up!

We received more than 700 video works from poetry lovers in 93 countries around the globe. Combining the results from online public votes and expert reviews, we now release the final winner list.

The closing event of "Poetry Connects the World: A Global Celebration of Classical Chinese Poetry" was held at the Suiyuan Campus of Nanjing Normal University on June 5.

Co-organized by the , Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing University and Nanjing University of the Arts, the event gathered over 400 international students from universities across Nanjing.

Participants took part in poetry recitals, experienced the qushui liushang (a traditional flowing wine ritual), and appreciated the poetic beauty of mountains, rivers, wind, and moon in feihualing (a give-and-take poem recitation game in China's traditional culture), immersing themselves in the charm of classical Chinese poetry.

The German finals of the 19th " " Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students and the 6th "Chinese Bridge" Show for Foreign Primary School Students were held in Hanover, Germany on May 30, 2026.

A total of 11 middle school students and 15 primary school students from across Germany joined the competition. The competition for secondary school students included Chinese speeches, cultural knowledge quizzes, and talent performances, while the show for primary school students featured speeches and talent performances. Participants showcased their skills such as dance, musical instrument performances, drama, kuaiban (a traditional Chinese storytelling performance accompanied by bamboo clappers), and singing.

Pauline Kramm, recommended by the Confucius Institute Munich, won first prize in the secondary school category, and Florentin Heid, recommended by the Confucius Institute at the University of Hamburg, won first prize in the primary school category. The two winners will represent Germany at the global grand finals of the Chinese Bridge in China.

Monica Plate, deputy mayor of Hanover, highlighted the importance of language as a key to the world and expressed hopes for further deepening of youth and cultural exchanges between and .

#有朋自远方来 : A delegation led by Sira Abed Rego, Spain's minister of youth and children, visited the on June 1. The delegation was accompanied by María Luisa Ochoa, education counselor at the embassy of Spain in China, and Tian Geng, an official from the Chinese Association For International Understanding.

Yu Yunfeng, director-general of the , and Liu Jianqing, deputy director-general of , met with the delegation.

Both sides agreed that strengthening language and cultural exchanges is conducive to boosting mutual understanding and friendship among young people, injecting fresh vitality into the sustained advancement of the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership.

Following the meeting, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, committing to pragmatic collaboration on language and cultural exchanges as well as distinctive "Chinese + Sports" programs.

The Northeast China preliminary round of the Storytelling Contest under the 2026 Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreigners across the Globe was held at Liaoning University on May 24.

More than 130 contestants from 46 countries showcased the skills they’ve learned in China – singing, (a traditional Chinese storytelling performance accompanied by bamboo clappers), and dancing. Through their performances, they shared personal stories about their experiences in China and the deep connections they have formed with the country.

The event was organized by the , and hosted by Liaoning University and Wuzhou Hanfeng Network Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd.

The first symposium for young Sinologists in Latin American was held at El Colegio de México in Mexico City from May 26 to 28.

With the theme Expanding the Boundaries of Chinese Studies, Engaging in Mutual Learning Among Civilizations — The Mission and Future Practice of Young Sinologists, the event was co-hosted by the , Renmin University of China and El Colegio de México. More than 100 Sinologists and young researchers from nearly 30 countries attended the symposium both on-site and online.

Three parallel forums were also held, focusing on topics such as the interpretation of classics and the exchange of ideas, social transformation and cross-regional comparison, and language communication and knowledge production. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on topics like Chinese philosophy, Chinese modernization, China-Latin America relations, and international Chinese language education.

During the symposium, Argentine scholar Ignacio Villagrán released a report on Sinology and in Latin America. Renmin University of China unveiled open research projects for China-Latin America civilizational exchanges. A signing ceremony was also held between Renmin University of China and the University of Buenos Aires of Argentina to launch cooperative training programs for the Argentine branch of the Global Center for Young Sinologists.

The launch ceremony of the 3rd China Postgraduate Case Competition on International Chinese Language Education kicked off at Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou city, Northwest China's Gansu province on May 23.

The event was attended and addressed by key guests: Zhao Yu, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Society of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education; Yu Tianqi, deputy director-general of the ; Liu Li, vice-chair of the National Steering Committee of Graduate Education in International Chinese Language Education; and Wang Zhanren, president of Northwest Normal University.

Over 200 representatives joined the occasion, including faculty and students from 65 higher education institutions nationwide such as Renmin University of China, Xiamen University, Dalian University of Foreign Languages, and Shanghai Normal University, as well as officials from the Gansu Provincial Department of Education. The case competition is one of the themed events under the China Postgraduate Innovation & Practice Competitions.

The preliminary rounds of the 25th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students, the 19th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students, and the 6th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Show for Foreign Primary School Students concluded in several countries.

Participants from Turkiye, Germany, South Africa and Vietnam shared their stories of connecting with the Chinese language, building bridges of friendship that transcend borders.

In Turkiye, the finals were held in the capital, Ankara, where 17 university students from 8 universities and 7 secondary school students from 4 schools competed. They also showcased their understanding of the Chinese culture through performances in singing, dancing, and calligraphy.

The German finals took place in Nuremberg, where 12 contestants shared their experiences around the theme "One World, One Family" and demonstrated talents in singing, dancing, calligraphy, and musical instrument performances.

In South Africa, the finals were hosted by the University of the Western Cape, with over 500 participants, including contestants, teachers, and parents from various universities. Contestants displayed their Chinese proficiency through speeches and talent shows, expressing their love for the Chinese language and culture.

The Southern Vietnam finals were held at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, where 37 contestants from 19 universities participated in knowledge tests, speeches, interactive Q&A, and talent performances around the theme "One World, One Family".

The "Poetry Connects the World": A Global Celebration of Classical Chinese Poetry video contest has received enthusiastic responses from poetry lovers in 93 countries across five continents since its launch in April. Over 700 creative renditions of Chinese classical poetry have been submitted.
