✔️INRULED Attended the 2025 SEAMEO Centres Policy Research Network Summit in Brunei

From 3rd to 4th July, Dr. Qi Xinjian, and Ms. Liu Ruixi, Programme Coordinator of the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED), attended the 2025 Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Centres Policy Research Network (CPRN) Summit in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.

During the Summit, Dr. Qi Xinjian and Ms. Liu Ruixi introduced INRULED's Mid-term Strategy (2024-2029) and highlighted the research framework of the upcoming Global Report on Education for Rural Sustainable Development, calling on relevant organizations and experts to help identify key challenges and best practices related to education for sustainable rural development.

☑️China-Southeast Asia Capacity Building Workshop Concludes with Strong Commitments to Enhance Skills Development for Sustainable Rural Development

The China-Southeast Asia Capacity Building Workshop (ASEAN-China TVET Policymakers Workshop) on Transforming Learning for Sustainable Rural Development successfully concluded its five-day programme from June 15-19, marking a significant step forward in regional cooperation for skills development for rural transformation.

The workshop was jointly organised by the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED), the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Technical Education Development (SEAMEO TED), and the UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia (UNESCO Beijing).

It also received guidance and support from Beijing Normal University, China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, with additional support from the China-ASEAN Specialized Committee for Education Cooperation and Development of the China Non-Government Education Association, China Agricultural University, and German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ).

🎊Celebrating the successful event of the TVET Leadership and Management Benchmarking Programme: Promoting Digital Transformation of TVET for Sustainable Rural Development at the 2024 Global Smart Education Conference (GSE 2024), held on 17-24 August, 2024 in Beijing and Hangzhou, China!

Policymakers, experts and scholars, TVET school leadership, and education and development practitioners from 6 Southeast Asian countries of Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam gathered for insightful discussions and collaboration.

📣Highlights included the Opening Ceremony of the GSE 2024 and the Forum on Smart Villages and Education for Rural Transformation, the Opening Symposium of the TVET Programme, the field visits to Alibaba Group and Tsinghua University Science Park in Beijing, and the trip to Lin’an District of Hangzhou to visit the local Vocational Education Centre, the Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University (ZAFU), and visits to emerging and innovative industries in rural communities, including the Bainiu Village, the E-commerce Town, the Xiangjian Village, the rural homestay and resort, and the Tianmu Mountain Moon Village, the UNESCO Biosphere reserve and tourism.

Co-organized by esteemed institutions including UNESCO INRULED, Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Technical Education Development SEAMEO TED, UNESCO Chair on AI in Education, UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia (UNESCO Beijing), China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), Smart Learning Institute of Beijing Normal University (BNU), China Institute of Education and Social Development and Faculty of Education of BNU.

🎊On June 13-19, 2024
China-Southeast Asia Capacity Building Workshop on Transforming TVET and Adult Education for Sustainable Rural Development Successfully Held.

This workshop was jointly organised by the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED), the UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, the SEAMEO TED, and the Institute of Vocational and Adult Education at Beijing Normal University; it was co-organised by the China Institute of Education and Social Development at Beijing Normal University, the Faculty of Education at Beijing Normal University, and the UNESCO Chair on Artificial Intelligence in Education. The workshop received guidance and support from Beijing Normal University, the Secretariat of the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO and the China Education Association for International Exchange.

The workshop attracted over 80 policymakers, administrators, practitioners, and scholars from China and eight Southeast Asian countries in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and adult education, with over 1,500 audience attending online.

After the workshop, 25 delegates from eight Southeast Asian countries embarked on a five-day field visit in Beijing and Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. Through themed dialogues, field visits, and roundtable discussions, they participated in thorough discussions with government departments, colleges and institutions, and enterprises. The field trip received support from the China Education Association for International Exchange, the Ningbo Education Bureau, and the Ningbo Institute of Vocational and Adult Education.

🌱 Celebrating a successful Lancang-Mekong Countries’ Capacity Building Workshop on Education for Sustainable Rural Development, held from April 23-26, 2024!

🌍 Researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders from Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam gathered for insightful discussions and collaboration.

🎉 Highlights included a dynamic international symposium and a transformative field visit to Beijing and Hebei province. They visited World Food Programme (WFP) China Office to learn about initiatives and projects of WFP Centre of Excellence in Rural Transformation (WFP China COE). On 24-25 April, they visited various sites such as Huangwan Village and Baiyangdian in Xiong'an New Area, and demonstration villages for poverty alleviation including Luotuowan Village and Gujiatai Village in Fuping County, Baoding, Heibei Province.

🤝 Co-hosted by esteemed institutions including China Institute of Education and Social Development at Beijing Normal University, Unesco Inruled, the Chaipattana Foundation, Hebei Agricultural University, and Yunnan Agricultural University, with support from the Secretariat of National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO and Beijing Normal Univerisity, this workshop exemplified global cooperation for a brighter, more sustainable future.
