Promoting Quality ELT (English Language & Literature) Nationwide - CAMELTA

Mispa Mua Mbi, a CAMELTA member, presented at Iatefl Brighton 2026 on the topic “Empowering ESL Learners in Cameroon through English Language Forums.”

The session examined how structured, student-centred forums can create safe and interactive spaces for learners to practise English beyond the classroom. By encouraging discussion, collaboration, and real-life communication, these forums help learners build confidence, improve fluency, and develop critical thinking skills.

The key takeaway: when learners are allowed to actively use English in meaningful contexts, they transition from passive participation to becoming confident, engaged speakers.

The experience did not end with the presentation. Beyond the formal sessions, she had the opportunity to meet and interact with leading voices in ELT, engaging in meaningful conversations that deepened their insights. She also connected with fellow Cameroonian educators for informal, out-of-conference discussions, reflecting on the inner workings of the conference and sharing practical ideas she can bring back home.

This experience continues to inspire new possibilities for transforming English language teaching and learning across Cameroon.

Proud of you, Mispa!

Celebrating CAMELTA Representation at Iatefl 2026

CAMELTA proudly celebrates Bichearline for representing the association at the IATEFL 2026 Conference in Brighton.

As part of the prestigious Hornby Scholars group, she co-presented alongside 9 other scholars on the topic: “Supporting TESOL Teachers in Unlocking Collaborative Agency.” The session attracted Hornby Trustees, former scholars, and English language teachers from around the world, highlighting the importance of collaboration in empowering TESOL professionals.

She also led a workshop session on “Using Pinterest as a Collaborative Tool in the EFL Classroom.” The session brought together teachers interested in digitalisation in education, where participants learned how to effectively use Pinterest by creating boards and pins to enhance collaboration, creativity, and learner engagement in the classroom.

This achievement reflects CAMELTA’s commitment to promoting innovation, teacher development, and global engagement in English language teaching. We are proud to see our own contributing to international conversations and bringing valuable knowledge back to our community.

Congratulations on this remarkable milestone!
