TEACHERS, SCHOOL RESUMES TOMORROW...
Before we walk into our classrooms, let’s remind ourselves of a few things.
Not every child will be brilliant.
Not every child will be quiet.
Not every child will learn at the same pace.
And not every parent will be easy to deal with.
But that is part of the job.
Let’s teach without humiliating, correct without insulting, discipline without abusing, and guide without giving up on children.
We should equally stop having favourites.
Stop comparing children.
Stop making the same few learners the centre of every activity while others are never given a chance to shine.
And please, don’t take your personal frustrations out on children.
They are not responsible for your salary, your workload, your family problems, or the bad day you are having.
At the same time, let’s be teachers who actually prepare, listen, communicate, observe and care.
Every child deserves to enter a classroom where they feel seen, respected and safe.
We have another year to shape young minds.
Let’s do our part well.
