When did we start teaching children that some jobs are worth more than others?**

A few weeks ago in class, we were having a lesson on "occupations," and every learner was to say their parents' occupation. A little girl stood up when it was her turn and said, "My father is a farmer."

Her voice got quieter. Her eyes dropped. She looked... ashamed.

A farmer? The person who puts food on every table. The one who understands soil, seasons, and sacrifice in ways most of us never will. And she felt she had to apologize for it.

We teach children to read and write, but somewhere along the way, they are also learning to measure worth by job titles. To rank professions. To feel small about the hands that feed nations.

So I stopped the lesson right there.

"A farmer," I said. "Your father feeds people. That's not just a job, it is power, it is purpose.

I watched something shift in her face.

Here is what I want every child to know: There is NO such thing as a "small" job when it is done with dignity. The farmer, the cleaner, the driver, the market vendor, they are the backbone of our world.

And here is what I want every parent to know: Your child is watching how YOU talk about your work. If you carry shame, they will carry it too. But if you carry pride, even in the hard days, you teach them something school never can.

All honest work deserves honor. 💚

Some teachers are really unbelievable.
You beg for a job, and once you are given one, you cannot even maintain it...
Arrangements are made for you to teach a child, and on the very day you are supposed to visit the family to possibly start the job, you suddenly become unreachable.
The parent called repeatedly, to no avail.
When you are finally reached, instead of apologizing, you start giving excuses saying you were a groomsman, got tired, and needed to rest. No one stopped you from resting, but basic courtesy required that you communicate.

The parent paused all her activities just to wait for you, yet you never showed up.
Some teachers are the very reason parents end up mistreating them.

Professionalism is not optional, if you cannot communicate, you have no business asking for teaching jobs.

"𝗠𝗺𝗲 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗥@𝗣𝗘?"

This question stopped me in my tracks. I told my learner to wait, we were to do human reproduction the very next day. The class was very interactive. The kids were wide-eyed, learning things they never knew about their own bodies. But when we got to the topic of r@pe? The room changed. ​As I spoke, the realization hit me, about five of my students had already narrowly escaped predators.
​“He gives me sweets and tells me to come to his room.”
​“Mme, he touches me inappropriately.”
These children didn't even know what was happening; they just knew they felt unsafe and ran. But what if they hadn't been fast enough? What if they were overpowered?
The Truth is: most of these kids know the names of their organs, but nothing about how they work or how to protect them.

We shy away from teaching reproduction, menstruation, and s@x because it’s "uncomfortable." But by staying silent, we hand over the kids to the wrong "teachers."
It is better to teach them the truth now than to let them learn through a tragedy later.....
