Africa is grappling with unprecedented challenges as floods, droughts, and heatwaves disrupt lives, undermine economies, and threaten vulnerable communities. Despite contributing less than four per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions, the continent bears a disproportionate burden from climate extremes.
At the recent African Climate Summit, our researcher from the International Water Management Institute ( ), a proud partner of the , shared vital insights on the crucial role of water in climate adaptation strategies. Discover more in this article published in The Standard, which highlights how effective water management is essential for building resilience against climate change across Africa. Together, letโs explore how we can address these pressing challenges! Read more at

The PALM-TREEs project tackles the critical challenges posed by climate extremes, especially for vulnerable communities in Central Africa and Nigeria. Our latest blog highlights key findings from case studies in the White Volta Basin, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Douala, Cameroon, showcasing the impacts of these extremes on marginalized groups. We emphasize the role of research in shaping effective climate policies while integrating gender considerations to address the unique vulnerabilities faced by women and other marginalized individuals. Together, we can advocate for meaningful change and support those who need it most.
