The group stage of The Best Team Inter-Quarter Tournament 2026 came to an exciting conclusion at today at the Tiko Town Green Stadium, with teams battling for a place in the knockout stage.

Back Council stole the spotlight with a stunning 8-0 demolition against Small Ikange, producing one of the tournament's most dominant performances to strengthen their quarter-final ambitions.
In the day's other fixture, New Layout secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Costain Layout to finish the group stage on a winning note.

With the group phase now complete, attention turns to the quarter-finals as the quest for the local championship intensifies. The first confirmed fixtures are set for Sunday, August 9, 2026:

⚽ 1:30 PM: Lagos 🆚 Boma Street

⚽ 3:30 PM: Water Tank 🆚 TIVA

The remaining quarter-final fixtures will be announced by the organizing committee in due course as football fans eagerly anticipate another thrilling weekend of action.

The Tiko Health District today brought together representatives from government services, the Tiko Council, security forces, religious and traditional leaders, transport unions, healthcare workers, and other community stakeholders for a multisectoral sensitization meeting on Mpox. The initiative, supported by UNICEF and the Ministry of Public Health, aimed to strengthen preparedness, surveillance, and community response to the disease.

Participants received presentations on the causes, modes of transmission, signs and symptoms, preventive measures, and the importance of early detection and prompt reporting of suspected Mpox cases. Facilitators also emphasized the need to combat misinformation and promote accurate health education within communities.

The interactive session provided stakeholders with the opportunity to ask questions and share concerns, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between health authorities and community structures in preventing the spread of Mpox.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to intensify public awareness, strengthen disease surveillance, and work together to protect communities from Mpox and other emerging public health threats.
