18. Why Patience Is a Secret Weapon
In today's world, many people want instant success. They want to plant today and harvest tomorrow. But life doesn't work that way. The greatest achievements take time.
A farmer does not dig up his crops every week to check if they are growing. He plants the seed, waters it, removes the weeds, and patiently waits for the harvest.
Your dreams are the same.
If you have started a business, don't quit because customers are few.
If you are learning a new skill, don't stop because you are not yet an expert.
If you are saving money for a better future, don't become discouraged because your savings seem small.
Patience is not about doing nothing. It is about continuing to work hard while trusting that your efforts will produce results in time.
Many people fail not because they lack talent, but because they give up too early. They stop just before their breakthrough.
Remember:
Great businesses are built over time.
Strong reputations are earned over time.
Financial freedom is achieved over time.
Success grows through consistent effort and patient persistence.
If your progress seems slow today, don't lose heart. As long as you are moving forward, you are getting closer to your goal.
🌱 The seed that grows the fastest is not always the one that produces the greatest harvest. Stay patient, stay faithful, and keep working. Your time will come.

11. Celebrate small victories
Many people only celebrate when they achieve a big goal, such as buying a house, getting a promotion, or starting a successful business. But positive thinking teaches us to appreciate small wins because they are the building blocks of bigger success.
Every step forward matters. If you only focus on how far you still have to go, you may become discouraged. But when you recognize your progress, you gain confidence and motivation to keep going.
Example
Imagine a young Cameroonian who wants to become a successful entrepreneur. In the beginning:
He gets his first customer.
He makes his first 10,000 FCFA profit.
He saves his first 50,000 FCFA.
He receives his first positive review from a customer.
These may seem like small achievements, but each one shows that he is making progress. Celebrating these milestones encourages him to keep improving instead of giving up.
How to celebrate small victories
Recognize every achievement, no matter how small.
Thank yourself for your hard work and consistency.
Write down your progress in a notebook or journal.
Share your success with people who genuinely support you.
Use each victory as motivation to pursue the next goal.
Benefits of celebrating small wins
It increases your confidence.
It keeps you motivated during difficult times.
It helps you see that your efforts are paying off.
It encourages consistency and discipline.
It makes long-term goals feel more achievable.
Key lesson
"Great success is built from many small victories. Every step forward deserves recognition because it brings you closer to your dream."
Don't wait until you've reached the top to appreciate your progress. Celebrate each milestone, learn from every experience, and keep moving forward with determination.

20. Track Business Profits Separately
If you run a small business, never mix your business money with your personal money. One of the biggest mistakes many small business owners make is spending business income on personal needs before knowing whether the business actually made a profit.
When you separate your business finances from your personal finances, you can clearly see how your business is performing.
Example
Suppose Grace sells vegetables in the market.
One day:
Sales: 20,000 FCFA
Cost of buying vegetables: 14,000 FCFA
Transport: 1,000 FCFA
Total business expenses: 15,000 FCFA
Business profit: 5,000 FCFA
If Grace spends the entire 20,000 FCFA on household expenses, she won't have enough money to buy fresh vegetables for the next day. But if she keeps her business money separate, she can:
Use 15,000 FCFA to restock her business.
Decide how much of the 5,000 FCFA profit to save, reinvest, or use for personal expenses.
How to Do It
Keep a separate notebook for your business.
Record your daily sales.
Record all business expenses.
Calculate your profit at the end of each day or week.
Pay yourself from the profit instead of taking money from the business whenever you need it.
Benefits
You know whether your business is making money.
You avoid spending your business capital.
You can plan for growth.
You make better financial decisions.
Your business becomes more stable over time.
Practical Advice for Poor Cameroonians
Even if your business is very small, start keeping simple records. A notebook and a pen are enough. Good record-keeping is a habit that can help your business grow from a small roadside business into a successful enterprise.
Life Lesson
"Your business cannot grow if you keep eating your business capital."
Treat your business like a separate entity. Protect its money, track its profits, and allow it to grow. As your business grows, your personal income can grow with it.

19. Buy Quality Items
Buying quality items means choosing products that are durable and reliable, even if they cost a little more upfront. A cheap item that breaks quickly often ends up costing more because you have to replace it again and again.
This doesn't mean you should always buy the most expensive product. The goal is to get the best value for your money.
Example
Suppose David needs a pair of work shoes.
Pair A costs 5,000 FCFA, but wears out after 3 months.
Pair B costs 10,000 FCFA, but lasts for 2 years.
Although Pair B costs more at first, it lasts much longer. Over two years, David spends less money because he doesn't have to keep buying new shoes.
Before You Buy
Ask yourself:
Is this item durable?
Will it last a long time?
Is it worth the price?
Have I checked reviews or asked someone who has used it?
Benefits
Saves money in the long run.
Reduces the need for frequent replacements.
Gives better performance and reliability.
Helps you avoid frustration caused by poor-quality products.
Provides better value for every franc you spend.
Practical Advice for Poor Cameroonians
If you cannot afford the better-quality item today, it may be wiser to save a little longer rather than buying a very cheap product that will soon need replacing.
For example, this advice is especially useful when buying:
Work tools
School bags
Shoes
Cooking pots
Electronics
Business equipment

Most Cameroonians start their businesses on Monday with the expectation of becoming millionaires by Friday. It doesn't work that way.
You must be patient like a cocoa farmer who is developing a New far. It takes years after years to get to the peak.
