Today's Devotional...
Don't be discouraged; you are not alone. Jesus did not leave His children as orphans; He sent a "Comforter" - the Holy Spirit Himself.
Listen, even when you feel most abandoned, you are not alone; you have a Comforter that will stay with you in your lowest moments and encourage you until you stand strong again.
"Paraklētos" is a Greek word that refers to someone who is summoned to stay by your side, to aid you, intercede for you, and plead your cause before a judge.
Paraklētos is the word that is translated as "Comforter". But carries a much deeper meaning than comforting. The Paraklētos had to be completely selfless and totally trustworthy, and so was quite rare to find.
The position of the Paraklētos was so delicate that at Jesus' departure, He could not find anyone else trustworthy enough to take His place but the Holy Spirit Himself - that tells you who Jesus actually was in the lives of the disciples.
Yes, even today, you have a selfless and trustworthy helper in the person of the Holy Ghost. He is not only by your side, but He is also in you. Abba Father!
Just as Christ was a "Paraklētos" to the apostles before his ascension to the Father, so is the Holy Spirit to you today.
The Holy Spirit is here to lead you to a deeper knowledge of the gospel truth and give you the divine strength needed to enable you to undergo trials and persecutions for the cause of the gospel and the kingdom of God.
So, don't be discouraged or worried, whatever you are going through right now; it is just a season, and it will pass. Surely you have faced many storms in your past; this one, too, will pass.
You have a trustworthy Comforter, a Paraklētos indeed, the Holy Ghost Himself, right inside you. He will not let challenges overwhelm you; He is willing and able to intercede for you.
May the joy that surpasses understanding fill your heart from this moment, no matter what you face, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
