Buea Institute of Technology (BIT) Saturday, 20th January, proudly hosted a double celebration marking the graduation of its 8th cohort of students and the matriculation of the 10th cohort.

BIT Graduates 8th Cohort, Matriculates 10th Cohort of Students
During the ceremony, a total of 37 students graduated after successfully completing their programmes at BIT. This included 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) students, 9 National Diploma students, and 23 Certificate programme students, all trained in practical, industry-oriented ICT and media skills. These figures were revealed by the Director of BIT, Mr. Benyella Njeko, in his welcome address. He congratulated the graduating students for their perseverance and encouraged them to become worthy ambassadors of the institution through professionalism and positive impact in their communities.

In the keynote address delivered by Mr. Nsah Eslie, Managing Director of LIAH Technologies, graduating students were challenged to be daring in life and reminded that their success after graduation largely depends on the decisions they make. Quoting Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., he encouraged the graduates, saying:
“If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”
He further advised the students to embrace volunteering, remain prepared, and take advantage of opportunities whenever they arise. He concluded by calling on family members to continue supporting and encouraging the graduates as they begin their professional journeys.

At the same time, BIT officially welcomed the 10th cohort of newly admitted students, who were matriculated and encouraged to uphold discipline, excellence, and innovation throughout their academic life. The Dean of Studies, Mr. Tata Theirry Tata, presented the various departments and programmes offered by BIT and led the freshmen through the matriculation oath.

The ceremony also featured activities organized by the Buea Institute of Technology Students Association (BITSA), including a debate on the topic “Should Artificial Intelligence be used as an aid to Education?” The event was further enriched with poems, songs, and the presentation of prizes to the best graduating students across all programmes. The Overall Best Graduating Student award went to Miss Atabongafac Mylene Asaha, who graduated with a GPA of 3.54.

The ceremony highlighted BIT’s continued commitment to hands-on training, innovation, and skills development, equipping young people to thrive in the digital economy and the growing tech ecosystem of Buea and Cameroon at large.

BIT remains dedicated to shaping future-ready professionals through quality vocational and technological education.
