Big steps Outreach Network (BONET) is a youth led, apolitical, religious non -conforming organization in Cameroon working for and with young people. Since its founding in 2011 BONET has worked tirelessly in the face of a myriad of obstacles to address issues of marginalization, inequality, HIV/AIDS and other challenges facing especially young people with disabilities, orphans/vulnerable children

(OVC’s), socially excluded people (SEP), sexual minorities and people living with HIV/AIDS( PLWHA). We provide them with skills, tools and opportunities to overcome all these without any bias or discrimination based on their race, ethnic group, sexual orientation, religious affiliations, political or other opinions

Our work aims at imparting preventative risk-reduction strategies in sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) coupled with teaching holistic life skills: an approach we believe it is essential to equip young people to tackle the 21st Century aptly. We do our work through a combination of volunteering our time, material and financial support in sourcing, creating and making available opportunities for young people. Therefore enabling them to make informed decisions about themselves and actively partake in the growth and development of their communities, thus nurturing youth into an impactful and productive adulthood. The mission of the BONET is to ensure young people are equipped with the skills and resources they need to make informed decisions about themselves, inherently creating a better society where young people are healthy, responsible and actively involved in the development of themselves and their communities. Vision

BONET’s vision is focused on ensuring that young people are connected to opportunities through which they can:

Learn, grow and contribute to the development of their communities. Gain and share valuable skills vital for a productive adulthood and self-sufficiency. Adopt and live healthy lifestyles void of diseases, unwanted pregnancies and addictions. Have equal opportunities and be aware of their rights to participate in decision-making and in fulfilling civic duties without bias or discrimination. Be Given priority to policies and programs including youth advocacy and peer-to-peer programs for marginalized youth, such as orphans and vulnerable children, socially excluded( out-of-school, out-of-work youth ) and sexual minorities to offer them the opportunity and motivation to re-integrate into mainstream society. BONET’s achieves its mission and vision via three key program which include:

Sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR)
Community education, empowerment and development- with strong emphasis on humanitarian aid.

As a coalition committed to combating hate speech and misinformation, we are jointly issuing this open letter to the public.

As the pre-electoral campaign period approaches in Cameroon, we stand firmly against hate speech and misinformation. We urge all stakeholders to foster tolerance, peace, and calmness while refraining from any forms of hate speech, misinformation, and violence.

SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT – 2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

BigSteps Outreach Network (BONET) is thrilled to announce the opening of applications for its **Scholarship Program**, designed to support determined and financially disadvantaged young Cameroonians in accessing quality higher education.

At BONET, we believe that no young person’s potential should be wasted because of poverty. Through this initiative, we are creating **stepping stones—not handouts**—to empower future leaders who are ready to learn, grow, and contribute positively to their communities.

Eligibility Criteria:
✔️ Must be a Cameroonian youth aged 17–30
✔️ Completed at least Advanced Level or equivalent
✔️ From a financially disadvantaged background
✔️ Disciplined, values-driven, and committed to excellence
What the Scholarship Covers:
Tuition support (50%–100%) depending on financial need, character, and commitment
Note: Textbooks, administrative charges, and exam fees are not covered

Expectations from Beneficiaries:
✅ Maintain good academic standing and discipline
✅ Actively participate in mentorship and service activities
✅ Re-apply annually for renewal based on performance
