The 20th Anniversary Celebration of Our Lady of Mount Carmel College (OLMCC), Muea
The main objective of the day was to celebrate the achievements and milestones of the first 20 years of Our Lady of Mount Carmel College, and to mark the beginning of a new chapter for the institution.
The 20th-anniversary celebration, which took place today on the OLMCC campus in Muea, was a solemn and joyous event, heavily marked by the presence and authority of the Church.
1. Prominent Presence and Pastoral Character: The event was centered around the presence of His Excellency Bishop Michael Bibi, the Proprietor of the school, who presided over the Mass. His participation, alongside other clergy members (Father Vincent, E.S., and Father Stephen Berinyuy), reaffirmed the school's commitment to its mission of integral formation and the importance of "unfailing pastoral care."
2. Celebration of the "Resurrection": A key moment was the acknowledgment and gratitude extended to Bishop Bibi for his "great audacity" and action in favor of the reopening of the college after its temporary closure during the 2022-2023 academic year, thanks particularly to the pleas of the ex-students.
3. Confirmed Academic Excellence: The college celebrated its "excellent legacy" by announcing a 100% success rate in the GCE examinations (Ordinary and Advanced Level) in 2025, as well as winning "several trophies" in sports competitions (Colleges Games).
4. Expansion and Future Vision: Despite past challenges, enrollment saw a significant increase, reaching 184 students. The Principal announced the establishment of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Nursery and Primary School. Even more ambitiously, she proposed the establishment of a university, with the aim of transforming OLMCC into a complete Educational Complex.
5. Recognition of Stakeholder BATCHES: Strong thanks were given to all stakeholders: the staff (past and present) for their dedication, the former principals (Sister Agnes Njueme and Sister Margaret Ajebesone) for laying a "very solid foundation," and the ex-students, recognized as an "indispensable arm" of the college.
In summary, the day was a powerful demonstration of the institution's resilience, its fidelity to its Catholic principles of "Quality education, integral formation, and progressive discipline," and its optimism for a prominent future.
Alfred SEMBI.
