đź’śISIDORE C. YESI: The Inspiration Behind St Isidore High School, Ndop đź’ś
Isidore C. Yesi is the young man in whose honour and memory St. Isidore High School (SIHS Ndop) was founded. SIHS is a memorial college which preserves the legacy of a kind-hearted brother and dedicated educator.
Isidore originally wanted to be a priest, attending St. Aloysius Minor Seminary in Kitiwum and later the Claretian Major Seminary in Nigeria. In time, however, he realized God was calling him to a mission beyond the priesthood. Following his heart, Isidore moved to China to become a teacher. During my visit to China where he died in a ghastly car accident in 2011, his employer shared with me that Isidore possessed a rare gift - he was the kind of teacher who inspired children to strive for their very best, no matter the circumstances.
Born on 4th October 1980, Isidore would have celebrated his 46th birthday this coming month. Instead, according to God’s divine plan, this year marks his 15th Heavenly Birthday.
At SIHS Ndop, we strive daily to walk in Isidore’s footsteps by providing quality education to children who might otherwise be unable to afford it. Years ago, our mother - a hardworking widow and farmer - sacrificed to pay nearly 350,000 FCFA annually for Isidore’s education at St. Aloysius. Today, in his honour and spirit of generosity, parents at SIHS pay only 35,000 FCFA per year because Isidore lived by the biblical truth that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
To honour our patron and celebrate our teachers, the SIHS family will host a special commemoration on October 4th - a joint celebration of Mr. Yesi’s birthday and World Teachers’ Day, recognizing the dedication and commitment of our teaching staff.
Little brother, we continue to miss you deeply.
