In order for women to own their voices and agency over their lives and choices, it is important to enhance their socioeconomic development. At for the needy, we realise this through education promotion, awareness raising and engaging women and girls in sustainable income generating activities.

HOFNA Cameroon
On International Women's Day, at HOFNA, we are reflecting on the progress we ALL made over the years. We also recognize the work that still needs to be done to advance gender equality in our communities in Cameroon and around the world.
At HOFNA, we remain committed to this important mission, particularly when it comes to eradicating child, early and force’s marriages and ensuring that adolescent girls have access to education and sanitary pads.
We believe that educating young girls is one of the most powerful tools we have in the fight for gender equality. It's a simple fact: when girls are educated, their communities are stronger, healthier, and more prosperous.
But unfortunately, there are far too many girls in our communities in Cameroon and around the world who are denied this basic right. It is even more challenging in situations of violent conflicts like in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon and other war torn communities around the world where girls need to choose between their basic human rights/staying alive and their well being. Girls are forced to drop out of school early, or are prevented from attending altogether due to poverty, cultural barriers, violent conflict or other factors.
HOFNA is committed to continue to work to ensure that every young girl has the opportunity to receive a quality education, no matter where she lives. Through our Girls Leadership Development Initiative and our Making Education Realistic Project, we will continue to build partnerships both locally and internationally to help break down the barriers that prevent girls from getting the education they deserve. We will continue to provide scholarships, trainings on response to and prevention of gender-based violence and mentorship programs to help girls succeed in school and beyond.
But we can't do this work alone. On this International Women's Day, we ask you to consider making a gift to the HOFNA Cameroon as a way to support our efforts.Your contribution will help us continue to provide young girls especially in conflict affected regions of Cameroon with the education and tools they need to succeed. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of millions of girls and their communities.

Your support is vital to our mission, and we are grateful for your partnership in this important work. Please join us in celebrating International Women's Day by making a donation today.Your generosity will help us build a brighter future for girls in disadvantaged communities.
Thank you for your commitment to gender equality and for your support to HOFNA.

How excited we are at HOFNA today! And we want to share this excitement with you 💃💃
Today, Matilda is participating in the regional competition where she is showcasing her products. If she wins today, she will further compete at National Level! Are you rooting for her like we are?
We are excited to see how much positive social change our project to economically empower women and girls is transforming the lives of hundreds of women in the rural communities.
It takes one economically empowered woman to rewrite the story of her family and generations. At HOFNA, we are committed to supporting women in the remotest of communities to not only be economically empowered but to own their voices and their agency on their needs snd priorities and the future they want for themselves.
This, to us, helps put an end to GBV that comes with need and dependency and also contributes to building the big picture of world peace ☮️.
We thank Ambassade d'Allemagne à Yaoundé in Yaounde for supporting this initiative. We thank the of Women’s Empowerment and the family through the regional delegations for working with us to realise this. We thank local authorities especially Nkambe Council for their support.
We are also grateful to our past funders - U.S. Embassy Yaounde and the engagement innovation fund for nurturing this hope in the communities we serve.

We are excited with how much impact our entrepreneurship training is having in the lives of internally displaced women and single mothers in communities. To watch women move from zero income a week to a minimum of 5000 francs CFA a week - this is rewarding to us at HOFNA.
At HOFNA, we have understood that lasting positive social change entails working with the people to identify root cause of issues and coming up with sustainable solutions that address the issues communities face. We understand how poverty and dependence fosters gender - based violence especially domestic abuse. We also understand how skill building and knowledge acquisition can address issues of poverty. We are pleased to see these women walking their way out of poverty and dependence and owning their voices as well as making choices for themselves. We pleased that they are also able to choose to pay the school fees of their girls - further reducing cases of GBV.
This, to us, is a piece of peace - little pieces that contribute to building the big picture of world peace.
We thank the Ambassade d'Allemagne à Yaoundé for believing in the lasting positive social change that our work brings. We thank the Ministère de la Promotion de la Femme et de la Famille (Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the family) through the Divisional Delegations for working with us to realise this impact. We thank the local authorities especially the Nkambe municipal Council for their support in providing a suitable space where women can continue to meet, produce and interact with/learn from each other.
Our team is looking forward to building the income generating skills of more women and teenage mothers in the days ahead.

HOFNA Cameroon Entrepreneurship, Skills building program: Nfua Martina Kinjo's Success Story
We are so proud of the impact of the income generating component of our project on enhancing community peacebuilding through trauma healing, economic empowerment and prevention of gender-based violence sponsored by the Ambassade d'Allemagne à Yaoundé
Following the training on production of powdered detergent (omo), glass cleaners, Vaseline Nkambe, and other marketable products as well as provision of start up capital in kind and training on the fundamentals of starting and running a business, the internally displaced women and teenage mothers have remained determined to make positive changes in their lives.
In Donga Mantung Division, NorthWest Region, Cameroon, one woman's determination to make a positive difference has led to a remarkable success story. Nfua Martina Kinjo, recently took part in a trade fair in Nkambe and in BAMENDA, showcasing her products and winning a cash prize.
"Thanks to HOFNA for empowering me in Nkambe. This is the business I am doing now. I move door to door to sell them here in Nkambe." Nfua Martina said in Nkambe
Through her newfound skills and entrepreneurial spirit, Nfua has not only improved her own financial status but is also making a valuable contribution to the community she now calls home. Her outstanding products and charisma won her prizes and a participation in regional activities where she won more prizes.
Starting her small business venture was not without challenges. She made good use of the start up capital in kind provided but also faced issues of limited resources, material and equipment to expand, but through determination and resourcefulness, she managed to overcome these obstacles to bring her dream to life. With the support of her family and the guidance she received from HOFNA Cameroon, Nfua became a star at the Nkmabe trade fair.
Martina's initiative has quickly gained attention in Nkambe.
According to her presentation at the Nkambe grand stand during the trade fair, the locally-made detergents are not only effective but also affordable.
"There is a chemical store here where we buy chemicals thus making the products available." She notes
The Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Donga Mantung, Simon Nkwenti described the detergents as attractive thus becoming a choice for many residents. By purchasing her products, community members not only support a local entrepreneur but also contribute to the economic development of Nkambe.
Martina's success story has inspired others within the community to explore their own entrepreneurial ventures.
Beyond the economic benefits, Martina's journey has had a profound impact on her personal growth.
Through her own experiences, she has become an advocate for education and empowerment, encouraging others to dream big and strive for success.
"I continue to thank HOFNA for what they did to us. I took it very seriously and I don't know if I will ever end it because when I don't produce people start asking in town." Nfua Martina noted
Nfua's success story is a shining example of how a simple idea, combined with the right training and support, can transform lives and communities. Her journey from a diligent learner to a successful entrepreneur has inspired those around her to chase their dreams and contribute positively to their community.

Nfua Martina Kinjo, recently embarked on a journey to produce and sell detergents within her community, Nkmabe. Her success is largely attributed to the training she received from Hope for the Needy Association (HOFNA) with support from the German Foreign Office through the German Embassy Yaoundé Cameroon as a part of the enhancing community peacebuilding through trauma healing, economic empowerment and prevention of gender-based violence project specifically the entrepreneurship and skills building component.

At HOFNA, we believe that localising the concept of peace and ensuring a bottom up approach to realising National and International Peace make peace processes sustainable by ensuring community ownership to these processes.
We are glad to have contributed to this research led by the Women Peace and Security Program led by Leymah Gbowee.
The paper features the process whereby the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) program fostered a critical learning community around peace and security across 13 countries and with 40 women.
In contrast to what is frequently done in both policy and academia: prescribing their needs from above, interpreting their knowledge from the outside, and advising what problems to tackle and how to live, the paper suggests a critical feminist epistemological commitment to taking seriously grassroots women's knowledge in peace and security processes.
At HOFNA, we work with women and girls to improve access to education, access to sanitary products, build income generating skills and support business startups. We also use creative arts to engage communities understand the devastating impact of gender based violence and work with stakeholders to end of forms of GBV and other structural inequalities that hinder women’s effective participation in peace building processes. These, to us and the communities we serve, contribute to realisation of the big picture of world peace.
