True inclusion necessitates a harmonious partnership, underpinned by mutual respect and collaboration. Advocates serve as catalysts for change, amplifying the voices of individuals with disabilities and advocating for their rights. Conversely, individuals with disabilities possess invaluable insights into their experiences and challenges, emphasizing the need for their active participation in decisions that impact their lives. Analogously, the dynamic between Sign Language Interpreters and individuals with hearing impairments exemplifies the interdependence required for successful inclusion – akin to the complementary pairing of fufu and vegetables, each component is essential for a cohesive outcome.

Moreover, it is essential to recognize the inherent wisdom in fostering synergy between diverse groups, a concept ingrained in the fabric of existence itself. The notion of collaboration and cooperation, as evidenced in the natural order of the universe, underscores the importance of unity in achieving optimal outcomes in the pursuit of inclusive societies. WHAT'S THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES?

The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
The theme of the 2023 International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is: "United in action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with and by persons with disabilities".
