Good relationships bring like-minded individuals together and create future opportunities that one may never anticipate. In the picture below, from my first year at Covenant University as an international student, I met other international students who had arrived before me. Samuel Kwesi from (Red), was one of the students who welcomed me. He invited me to stay in his room for a few days until my official residence was ready. Joining him, he made my stay very comfortable. He informed other international students that there was a new guy around. Together with other national students, they all came up to our floor to welcome me. I instantly fell in love with the community.

Then came another guy, Lumbani Bondera from (Navy Blue). He took me out and treated me to some good Nigerian traditional dishes. I stayed with Samuel for a few days, only to discover that he was the Vice Chair of the Student Council, and Lumbani was the president of the international students. Our bond became even stronger as I always enjoy learning from people with leadership experience. I spent my time with these guys, helping them on a voluntary basis to fulfill their duties. Fast-forward a year plus later, I received messages from both, one asking, "What do you have for the Student Council?" and the other, "What do you think can be done to improve international students' stay on campus?" Long story short, in September, I became the president of the International Students and later the Chair of Postgraduate Students at Covenant University.

Knowing how rigorous the screening process for student leaders at Covenant University is, especially the aspect of spirituality which is very strict, whatever led to me holding these positions at the same time — the first time in history for an international student to lead the Student Union and to work in this dual capacity — remains a mystery. However, one thing is clear: God positions you to serve so that you can learn how to lead. I have come to understand that servant leadership is the best form of leadership. That is, you start by lifting others, and then you are lifted.

Greetings dear alumni of the University of Bamenda, the University of the future. Membership registration into the alumni association is now open. Find on this message the link to the registration form, which you should fill carefully before submitting. Immediately after submitting your form, you shall receive an acknowledgement and mobile money account details (MTN and Orange) for the payment of your annual registration fee of 5000Frs. Registration can also be done through PayPal for those out of the country. After payment, screenshot the message and send with your full names via email to [email protected] for your registration receipt and subsequently membership batch.

Note should be taken that bonafide membership of the alumni association is acquired only upon payment of the registration fee. In this regard, it is important to be aware of the following;

a) Membership
Any person meeting any of the following criteria shall be eligible for membership of the Association:
- Persons who have received Degree(s), Diploma(s) or Certificates awarded by UBa.
- Students who are in their final year of study in the University shall be referred to as student members.
- Full membership shall be established by the persons referred to in subsection (i) above only upon payment of Annual Registration. Such Registered members shall have the status of “Active Member.”
Only active members shall have voting rights in the process of an election.
- Membership shall not be transferrable

b) Cessation of Membership
A member of the Association shall lose the right of membership in case of death, resignation as a member, where he/she is found to be of unsound mental state, or is convicted by a competent court for any offence on moral grounds, or expelled by the Executive Board for compelling reasons.

Dear alumni, it is time for us to rise in action for the development of our beloved university, The University of Bamenda. UBa is not an institution we inherited, but a treasure we borrowed/are borrowing from future generations, we must therefore be proud of what we are passing on to those following, by making it better than we met it. No great university in the world made it great without sacrifices.

Deadline for the payment of second installment fees for the 2020/2021 academic year is February 25, 2020.

All students are called upon to pay their schools fees before the deadline in order to meet up with the first semester exams that will start from March 5.

Early payment of school fees is also a guarantee of not having problems with your CA and exam marks.

After 10th Years of Existence,the University of Bamenda Alumni association is poised to enable the University of Bamenda Compete with some of the best Universities in the world such as Harvard,Oxford and the Yale Universities..This can only be done by bringing us together as graduates to exercise our Moral Obligation to give back to the University in Appreciation of the knowledge invested in Us.

As days go by,preparation works towards the launching of the University of Bamenda Alumni is seriously ongoing. TUBAA wishes to communicate to you that 14/12/2020 will mark exactly 10years of existence of our prestigious University.

Ten years is not 10 months, weeks,days or hours. Is a long time for us to thank God for the existence of this University and we need to celebrate our successes with UBa.

In this light an alumni association will be launched on that special day (14/12/2020) for us to contribute our various ideas for the continuous growth of UBa.

For this to be effective, an interim board has been put in place to help towards the organization of this launching ceremony. There after an enlarged general meeting will be convened for us to elect our leaders.

OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION

3.1 To provide a forum for the Alumni of the University.

3.2 To engage in academic and social activities which shall contribute towards promoting liaison between the Alumni Association and the University.

3.3 To encourage, foster and promote close relations among the alumni themselves.

3.4 To encourage academic excellence by seeking avenues for scholarships and jobs to current and graduating students.

3.5 To assist and support the efforts of UBa in obtaining funds for development purposes.

3.6 To provide a forum for the Alumni for exchange of ideas on academic, cultural and social issues by organizing and coordinating activities of the Alumni.

3.7 To provide and disseminate information regarding their alma mater to the general public.

3.8 To promote and sustained a sense of belonging to the alma mater among the Alumni by being in regular contact with them.

3.9 To keep alive love, friendliness and gratitude for the alma mater.
