The conference will run the following workshops:
Computer vision and machine learning for plant phenotyping: participants will learn how to use a number of techniques for plant phenotyping, data processing and analysis for trait prediction. Three main techniques will be covered: spectral reflectance, digital and thermal images.
Molecular markers-traits association analysis: participants will learn how to link phenotype data to the genome in order to identify marker-trait associations.
Participants will be provided with the appropriate software and hardware. We anticipate the use of open source software such as R and Octave.

Latin-American Plant Phenomics Network
One of the main goal of the conference is to setup the Latin-American Plant Phenomics Network (LatPPN). This network will facilitate training on several aspects of phenotyping and pre-breeding methodologies, scientific exchange of young/senior researchers and students, and international access of resources and research facilities. All these activities will strengthen Latin-America’s research capabilities in the field of plant phenotyping.
This activity will take place on the last day of the conference and for efficiency purpose, three representatives per country will have the chance to participate. In this meeting we will discus our organization and interaction with other phenomic networks. Also, each country should bring the following information:
--> Phenotyping and phenomic development:
*Crops & traits
*Equipment and facilities
*Institutions and researchers
*International conections
*National and international projects
--> Public/private available finance alternatives to strengthen this network
--> Periodicity of this conference, next host country and convener(s)
Researchers interested on be a country representative, must contact Dr. Gustavo A. Lobos ([email protected]) and Dr. Anyela V. Camargo ([email protected]).
