✍🏼 - A preposition is a word or group of words used before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to show direction, time, place, location, spatial relationships, or to introduce an object.
(preposição é uma palavra ou grupo de palavras usadas antes de um substantivo, pronome para indicar direção, tempo, lugar, localização...)

🆎 At – (em, no, na, a...)
🆎 On – (em, no, na...)
🆎 In – (em, no, na...)
🆎 For – (há...)
🆎 Since – (desde...)
🆎 By – (até as...)
📝 USAGE

1. The use of “at”. (o uso do “at”)

a) - We use “at” to talk about times:
(usamos o “at” para falar sobre as horas)
🆎 at 8pm – as 20h
🆎 at midnight – à meia noite
🆎 at 6:30 – as 6:30
b) - to talk about holiday periods:
(para falar sobre feriados)
🆎 at Christmas – no Natal
🆎 at Easter – na Páscoa
c) - with the following expressions:
(com as seguintes expressões)
🆎 at night – à noite
🆎 at the weekend – no fim de semana
🆎 at lunchtime – na hora do almoço
🆎 at dinnertime – na hora do jantar
🆎 at breakfast time – na hora do pequeno almoço (matabicho)
2. The use of “on”. (o uso do “on”)

a) - We use “on” with days:
(usamos o “on” com dias)
🆎 on Monday – na segunda-feira
🆎 on my birthday – no meu aniversário
🆎 on Christmas Day – no Dia de Natal
b) - with days+morning, afternoon, evening or ninght:
(com dias+manhã, à tarde, à noite)
🆎 on Tuesday morning – na terça-feira de manhã
🆎 on Tuesday afternoon – na terça-feira à tarde
🆎 on Tuesday evining – na terça-feira à noite
🆎 on Tuesday night – na terça-feira à noite
c) - with dates:

🆎 on the 12th of August – no dia 12 de Agosto
🆎 on the 13th of May – no dia 13 de Maio
3. The use of “in”. (o uso do “in”)

b) - with months:

4. The use of “for”. (o uso do “for”)

a) - We use “for” with a period of time / length of time.
(usamos o “for” com período ou duração de tempo)
🆎 for 6 months – há 6 meses
🆎 for 7 days – há 7 dias
🆎 for 10 weeks – há 10 semanas
🆎 for 2 years – há 2 anos
🆎 I study English for 2 months. – Eu estudo inglês há 2 meses.
5. The use of “since”. (o uso do “since”)

a) - We use since with the start of a period of time.
(usamos o “since” com o início de um período de tempo)
🆎 Since January – Desde Janeiro
🆎 I've been living in England since last year. – Eu moro na Inglaterra desde o ano passado.
6. The use of “by”. (o uso do “by”)
👇
a) - We use “by” when we want to say "not later than" or any time until this point.
(usamos o “by” para estabelecer a hora limite)
🆎 My mother said I have to be home by 7pm. – A minha mãe disse que tenho que estar em casa até as 19h.
