This essay argues that contemporary art has entered a post-object era in which physical artworks have lost the cultural centrality they held from ancient pyramids to Renaissance painting.

Drawing on Hegel’s aesthetics and current exhibitions at Pace and Gagosian, I show how meaning in contemporary practice increasingly resides in concepts, narratives,
and institutional framing rather than in objects themselves. As performance, digital work, and conceptual art become dominant,

the gallery model—built on the sale of objects—faces obsolescence, while museums absorb art into historical narrative. The piece proposes that we may already be living in a “post-art” moment: art persists, but its historical function as a primary medium of meaning has ended.
