✨ First Assembly of the Term! ✨

It was fantastic to gather as a whole school today for our first assembly of the term. Meitaki ma'ata to our student leaders, who take on the running of Assemblies each week.

Today, Papa Orometua laid down some sound advice for the term ahead.

New term, new challenges.

He challenged every student to focus on these four guiding principles:
👂 Listen carefully – Pay attention to your teachers and the guidance around you.
🧠 Think carefully – Make smart choices in your studies and your daily interactions.
🧘 Be patient – Growth takes time, so be kind to yourself and others as you learn.
🌟 Open your mind – Welcome new ideas and new experiences.

And most importantly: Don't panic!

Tereora College junior students will be working with CIFWA over the next few weeks as part of their Healthy Relationships module in Health. Students will be learning about all the different aspects that make up a healthy relationship, as well as all things puberty and STI's.

A reminder for students attending the Literacy Support workshops starting next week (2nd week of school holidays).

📚 Every student at Tereora College has real strengths to build on — and this term, we're helping them turn those strengths into an achievement that lasts a lifetime.

The Ministry of Education and Tereora College are running a series of reading sessions to prepare our Year 11 students for the NCEA reading co-requisite (5 credits) — the reading component of the literacy co-requisite that every young person needs to achieve NCEA and everything that comes after it: further study, training, and work.

Here's what makes us proud of this programme:
✅ Small groups led by caring, expert facilitators
✅ Built around what your child can already do — closing one gap, not starting over
✅ Designed so every one of our students can succeed

📅 Key dates:
• Holiday boost sessions: 3–7 August
• Continuing every Tuesday & Thursday during term 3
• Practice assessment: 27 August
• Event 2 (the real thing): 7–18 September

Parents and caregivers — if your child has been contacted about these sessions, this is where you come in. 🙌 The single most important thing you can do is make sure they are there for every session. Attendance is what turns effort into achievement. Encourage them, get them there, and let's get our young readers across the line together.

We can't wait to celebrate their success. 💙

School Uniform Update for Term 3.

With the start of the Spring Term, and weather soon starting to warm up, students will only be allowed to wear Tereora College jackets /zipped hoodies (non-school uniform hoodies will not be allowed throughout the school day).

If your child is still feeling the cold, please ensure they have the correct school uniform from Tuki's for the start of Term 3.
