Tereora College was established in 1895 and is the National College of the Cook Islands for Year 9-13 students. We are located in Nikao, on the island of Rarotonga. Learning is the core of the College. We believe that all students are capable of learning and that it is our job as teachers to ensure that all learning is maximised. We want each and every one of our students to be the “best that they can be”. Our College motto of “Kia Toa” provides us with our overall strategy. We want all our students and teachers to be strong and courageous in their pursuit of learning. Learning can be of all kinds: academic, personal, social, cultural and sporting. Together, these provide us with our mission of developing “excellence in citizenship.” We offer a modern Junior Curriculum based on the Cook Islands National Curriculum. In the Senior School we offer the New Zealand NCEA at Levels 1, 2 and 3). The range of subjects available at the College Academic Guide 2015 is comprehensive and comparable or superior to most New Zealand schools.

Cook Islands Ministry of Education
With school re-opening tomorrow for term 2 we want to reiterate that the health, wellbeing & safety of every student, teacher & staff member is paramount.
The extensive distancing measures that were implemented in our schools before the holidays started will continue to be practiced once gates open and learning starts.
The Cook Islands is #virusfree and remains a safe place to be, and so are our schools. Hygiene practices, regular hand washing, extra cleaning of surfaces and teaching & learning aides will be amped up, and physical distancing will be managed as best as possible.
Access to professional and confidential counseling support for school-aged students, teachers and staff also continues by calling the free hotline 0800 3333. We are here to help.
Teaching & learning will look quite different during these uncertain times. Having schools open means we can start getting some normality back but we won’t be relaxing our healthy schools expectations.
We appreciate all your support and look forward to seeing you tomorrow for fun and learning.
