Avatea School and Nikao Maori School merged in 2015 and Apii Nikao was born. This was due to the arson attack on a block of Avatea classrooms in 2013.

It was Kia Orana Day at Apii Nikao today. Part of today's program was creating craft from kikau fronds. Here, students from Years 5 & 6 made rings, glasses, bracelets/watches, balls, plates & propellers. They had so much fun this afternoon.

Tapere sports at Apii Nikao
What a way to do Art. Here at the Junior Division Mrs Nootai, Mrs Tou, Ms Tearea & Ms Tereora. This is how you do this and at the same time has a game. You have your class mate behind you and you standing in front of the board. Your friend with draw on the paper behind. You are to feel what they are drawing on your back and you are to draw this on the board in front of you.

Apii Nikao Literacy Parents Evening group discussion.
Guest speakers at Apii Nikao with Tapere Tepuka meeting time 9-9.30pm. They are here to talk to our student year 1 - 8 about Road safety plus wearing a helmet on your bicycle or the motorbike been drop off and picked up from school. Kids were so excited to see our police offices in the school making a difference in tell them what they do. You wouldn't know one day these kids will be in there shoes to be a police office. Thank you to the Police Officers for coming to Apii Nikao

Students of year 5 & 6 carrying out their practical lesson on procedures. Future chefs here cooking and making pancakes, French toast, bacon & eggs, egg sushi, bacon & egg sandwiches, scrambled eggs & quiche.
Year 5 & 6 getting tips on the importance of drinking water instead of sweet drinks by Rochelle. The students later took to the field for some skills on quick rip with 2 other coaches.
We would like to say thank you to Mrs Gaylene Mauheni who have been at Apii Nikao relieving in Marae 4 Year 5 & 6 where you will see pictures of swimming lessons and even cooking & making smoothies very sweet smoothies. Then she moved and relieved in Marae 5 Year 7 & 8 where pictures with the students and doing art work. Meitaki Maata

Students from Marae 4 making slushies, smoothies & milkshakes. They have been learning all about procedural writing. They wrote recipes on how to make these and had to follow the instuctions.
Did they follow the instructions though?
I don't think so. They had so much fun making these, drinking them and sharing some for their friends, teachers, our principal & secretary. They are the first class to use the 6 new blenders bought by the school.
