The full text of our principal's speech at the 2022 valedictory, prize and award giving ceremony.

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان رجيم، بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
الحمد لله رب العالمين، والصلاة والسلام على أشرف المرسلين، سيدنا محمد، سيد الأولين والآخرين، وعلى آله وأصحابه، والتابعين ومن تبعه بإحسان إلى يوم الدين.

The Chief Imam, Fadilatus Sheikh Alh Abd Azeez Aderele, Our highly respected father, Alh. Abd Raheem Folorunṣo Gaosu. The Board Chairman, Pa Salawudeen Adam, members of the school board here present, the Vice principal, Mr Hammed Ogunwoye, The Head teacher, Head Mistress, Heads of departments, other members of academic and non academic staff, distinguished guests, parents, families and friends here present.

I welcome you all to this year’s occasion of graduation, prize and award giving ceremony.

Education is a continuous process. Not long ago, we termed the ‘illiterate’ as those who cannot read and write, but there is a new twist to it, for the illiterate of the 21st century will be those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.

With globalization and the rate of information flow in this day and age, one must be prepared to shed outdated information and relearn to stay relevant.

Our goal at S.B Lawal Memorial International Group of Schools is to ensure that all our students are properly guided to achieve their full potential. Our task is to make it possible and our mission is to provide a platform for the same.

Success for all students is ensured at our school by the delivery of an enriching, child centered, balanced and structured education curriculum and a whole school focus on student welfare that concentrates on the positive recognition of student achievements.

Teachers at S.B Lawal are highly qualified and experienced educators who are committed to supporting each student’s learning experience through quality instruction and guidance that addresses the needs of the individual child. We work to provide students with differentiated support that address each student’s specific needs both academically and socially.

In this last one year, records were set as two of our students who graduated few years ago got admission into one of the world leading University in the United States of America. The then ‘S.B Lawal boys’ are now studying at the Huston Tillotson University, Illinois. This and many more are evidences of the passion, hardwork and commitment of the management and staff of S.B Lawal Memorial International Group of Schools.

On this note, I implore our parents to continually support the school in every little way they can. Most importantly, the greatest teacher a child could have is the parent. Therefore, parents should ensure that children are properly monitored and provided with necessary support and materials they may need to succeed in their academics.

To the graduating classes of today;

Graduation day is a time not only to rest on your laurels and feel good of oneself. But, just as important to extend our appreciation to those who have made our success possible. Your parents have unselfishly devoted time and money to see that you are well provided for and if you think back, they have never refused any of your requests to buy educational items or paraphernalia to enhance and further your education. Now, it would be wrong to dismiss their kindness and parental love.

All of you here today, including your parents are anxious with respect to how your lives are going to turn out. It is okay to wonder and dream, but I also think it is important to realize that our future is not something that just happens to us. It is up to us to make it happen.

To a large extent, our destiny can be managed and controlled. So, my parting advice is for you to have an honest reflection and leave behind what isn’t helpful, habits that are hindrance to the next chapter of your life. Bring forward with you the valuable lessons you have picked up from your school and the home. This is a recipe for success.

In closing, let me congratulate you on your achievement, the Grade 5 and Grade 9 students of 2022. Your parents and teachers have every reason to be proud of you on this Graduation Day.
