THE MULTI-DIMENTIONS OF A TEACHER
A simple definition of a teacher is that he is a multi-talented and multi-tasking professional.
This is because:
1) In the classroom he's called a teacher.
2) During sports he becomes a coach.
3) During debates he is a judge.
4) During excursions he becomes a fielbd and a tour guide.
5) During examinations he's an invigilator.
6) During seminars he's seen as a panelist.
7) During assembly/devotion, he becomes a preacher.
8) In case of minor injuries in school, he becomes a first aider.
9) During project and practicals he's a supervisor.
10) During counseling he becomes a counselor.
11) At home, he's a guardian and a parent.
12) He's an observer while teaching.
13) When there is a case in school he becomes a detective.
14) While preparing for a lesson he's a researcher.
15) He becomes a planner while writing lesson plans, mapping timetables and preparing duty rosters.
16) He's a receptionist who politely welcomes learners, parents and visitors.
17) While encouraging his learners, he becomes a motivator.
18) When knowledge is needed in the community he becomes a consultant.
19) He acts as a correspondent by collecting, collating and sharing information within and outside the school.
20) In building he is an engineer who builds lives and destinies.
A teacher is gifted to carry out so many functions.
