Our community came together to celebrate Peace Day through creativity, collaboration and a whole lot of colour 🤍

The celebration started with everyone wearing white, followed by performances, art and activities across campus. Students created Peace DOTS (Do One Thing), took part in face painting and chalk art, and worked together across grades to explore what peace means to them.

One of the highlights was the 1,000-piece Peace DOTS art installation, bringing individual contributions together into one shared work of art. It was also lovely to see older and younger students working together, including Grade 8 students with Grade 2 and Nursery.

On the first Saturday of September, the ICS community came together to celebrate the start of a new school year at our Welcome Back Picnic, a morning filled with connection, energy, and community spirit. 🌍🎉

Families enjoyed a variety of activities, from the Family Fun Run and Zumba to reconnecting with friends and welcoming new families into our community.

This year's event was especially meaningful as we also had the opportunity to warmly welcome our new Head of School, Mr Patrick Phillips, whose presence added to the sense of excitement and optimism for the year ahead.

A highlight of the morning was the Extension Open Doors event, where families explored the new Secondary Campus Extension and experienced its innovative learning environments firsthand. Our youngest learners embarked on a fun-filled Scavenger Hunt, exploring the new Extension, solving clues, and discovering new corners of ICS along the way. The new spaces sparked curiosity and excitement as students and parents imagined the opportunities for collaboration, creativity, and learning that the Extension will bring for years to come.

We are also grateful to everyone who contributed through donations during the event. All proceeds were shared directly with Street Kids Direct, supporting their important work with high-risk youth in Guatemala and Honduras.

Thank you to every family, student, staff member, and volunteer who joined us and helped make this celebration such a memorable start to the school year. Events like these reflect the strong sense of belonging that makes ICS so special, and we look forward to gathering together again next year!

From 7-9 September, a group of Grade 10 and 11 students embarked on their qualifying Adventurous Journey for the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, taking on a challenging three-day hut-to-hut trek through the Swiss Alps.

Beginning in Flumserberg-Tannenboden, the group hiked to the Spitzmeilen Hut before ascending to the highest accessible point of Spitzmeilen on day two. From there, they continued to the Murgsee Hut for their second overnight stay before completing a long descent through the spectacular Sardona UNESCO World Heritage region, finishing in Filzbach above the Walensee.

Despite demanding terrain and challenging weather conditions, students successfully navigated the route with determination and teamwork. Throughout the journey, they demonstrated resilience, independence, and a strong sense of mutual support, embodying the spirit of adventure and personal growth at the heart of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award programme.

🌟 A truly inspiring day at ICS as we celebrated the Grand Opening of the Extension 🏛️, our new Visual and Performing Arts space 🎭 🎨 — complete with a dedicated Study Hall and purpose‑built environments designed to elevate creativity, expression, and interdisciplinary learning.

Inaugurated at the beginning of September 2026, the ICS Extension brings to life a bespoke Visual and Performing Arts Centre, created as a vibrant hub where creativity meets curriculum and curiosity thrives. The facility features state‑of‑the‑art spaces including a professional recording studio, dedicated music practice rooms, an intimate performance hall, recital space, visual arts studios, a study and examination hall, and flexible classrooms that support innovative teaching and learning.

This milestone reflects the vision, collaboration, and commitment of our community—and opens new possibilities for our students to explore, create, and grow.

The celebration featured inspiring Student Voice 🗣️, a joyful Ribbon Cutting 🎀✂️, and thoughtful reflections from our Head of School, Patrick J. Phillips, Board Building Committee Chair, Valentijn Bonger, Project Manager, Hester Dekker, and Design Director, Jeni Durksen. Their messages highlighted the creativity of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the collaborative spirit that guided this project from vision to reality.

This new space represents expanded opportunities for learning, expression, and innovation. We look forward to all the ways our students and community will bring it to life.

A fond farewell to Rintaro! 🌍

It was a great pleasure to have Rintaro with us at ICS as part of our Round Square Exchange Programme.

Our exchange programme brings our community closer to the world, giving students the opportunity to experience a new culture, meet new people and see school life from a different perspective.

We asked Rintaro about his impressions of Switzerland and his time at ICS. He was particularly impressed by the variety of Swiss cheeses 🧀 and by just how international our ICS community is.

Thank you for being part of our community! We hope you leave ICS with wonderful memories, new friendships and an unforgettable exchange experience.

🌍 Our Community, Our World 🎨

To launch the 2026–2027 school year, students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 explored what it means to be part of a community and how each of us contributes to the bigger picture.

Each student created a unique piece of artwork inspired by something about themselves, what they value, or what makes a community feel connected and welcoming. Using collage, paint, coloured pencil, oil pastel, images and words, students expressed their ideas in their own creative ways.

When brought together, these individual pieces become one shared work of art — a reminder that we each bring something different, and that every contribution matters.

As an international school, our community is shaped by many cultures, languages, experiences and perspectives. Like the threads of a tapestry, we all come together to create our community. 💛

🏗️ A new chapter for our campus!

After 12 months of construction, our Campus Extension Project is complete! 🎉

We would like to thank our Project Manager, Architects, Construction partners, and Operations Team for their dedication, expertise, and hard work throughout this project.

Our new spaces are now being used every day by our students and community. We’ve been happy to welcome everyone back to campus and see these spaces come to life.
