Two worlds millions of miles meet over one of the oldest stones on Earth along with crescent Moon.
Look up.
Those two brilliant points of light hanging above Stonehenge?
That's Venus and Jupiter — the two brightest planets in the entire night sky — caught in a conjunction that peaked on June 9, when they crept to within about 1.5 degrees of each other. Roughly three full moons wide. Practically touching, from where we stand.
Except they're not touching at all. They're separated by hundreds of millions of miles of empty space. It's pure cosmic illusion, a trick of alignment along the same path the Sun and planets trace across our sky.
Then the Moon showed up to steal the scene.
That slim crescent slipping in beside them on June 16 and 17 completes one of the most striking sky pictures of the year — three luminous bodies stacked over a monument that's been watching the heavens for nearly 5,000 years.
Think about that.
The people who hauled those stones into place tracked the Sun and Moon with deadly precision. They built an entire temple around the rhythm of the sky. And here we are, thousands of years later, staring up at the very same dome of stars they did — at planets they could see with their own eyes but could never name.
Venus burns brightest. Jupiter glows just behind it. A sliver of Moon ties them together. And beneath it all, the silhouette that has outlasted empires.
The stones don't move. The planets do.
And for a handful of nights, the sky lined them all up just for us.
