After a Covid break that kept us apart for what felt like an eternity, what a pleasure it is to meet and the team in to plan our further collaboration.
The annual winter camp concluded earlier this month and saw 30 students from the Gya-Meru region attend classes and activities around , and , local cultural and medicinal traditions, and of course !
We also had a chance to attend a game and meet the all-star players who carry the future of Indian ice hockey. Since the first winter camp in 2017, 7 female players from the Gya-Meru region have moved on to professional ice hockey careers, and 6 play internationally. Many of them had never put on skates before they attended the camp. What an inspiring example of through sports!

We're proud of the work of Rigzen Mingyur Gya and the whole Youth Association of Gya Meru - YAGM team, who organised a new edition of the SMP sustainability winter camp for Ladakhi students.
The 3-week camp just concluded with the now-traditional folk song & dance show in the neighbouring village of Shara. The focus for this year's camp was on biodiversity preservation and waste management, which the students exchanged and reflected on through practical activities including nature walks and craft projects.
Thanks for making this possible through your support this year again! Donors will receive a detailed report and a special thank you note very soon ❤️.

Yesterday, Slow Motion Project met Mr. Dorji Dhradul, director general of Tourism Council of Bhutan. We talked about the need of maintaining tourism sustainable in Bhutan and how to achieve that. And guess what? Slow Motion might bring its small contribution to that, being involved again in the Bhutan Middle Management and Hotel Program for Hospitality... We already look forward to knowing more! 🤩🇧🇹

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) just approved $25 million for climate-resilient agriculture and planning in Bhutan. As a mountainous, largely agricultural country, is proving extremely disruptive & expensive for 🌾🌧🌡🚱⚠. The country is seeing increasingly damaging monsoon seasons, drier dry periods, shifting temperatures & more climate-related disasters such as flash floods & landslides. The new project will help the Kingdom of Happiness prepare for climate change.Half of country's rural population will benefit from the new project. By the end of the six-year project, over 400 kilometres of roads will be climate-proofed and 8,000 hectares of farmland will have reliable climate-resilient irrigation schemes.

Our Ladakhi partner NGO, the Youth Association of Gya Meru - YAGM, is featured as an agent of change by Reach Ladakh Bulletin!
They have been working since 2014 to help young Ladakhis unlock their full potential through practical education, and support them in creating sustainable initiatives for their region.
We couldn't be prouder to work with them!
