3.6 billion people do. Because they have nowhere safe to go.
Sustainable Development Goal calls for the availability and sustainable management of and for all.
“Shared sanitation facilities can substantially contribute to sanitation access in low-income urban areas,” says ETH NADEL researcher Dario Meili. “We have identified key criteria for what constitutes “acceptable quality” in shared toilets in low-income urban contexts.”

Low- and middle-income countries are disproportionately impacted by disasters such as floods, landslides or drought. Hazard events can wipe out decades of development progress in a matter of minutes. They can also slowly erode livelihoods and aspirations over years.
