What does trilingual childcare actually look like? 🌍

At Dayschool, German, English and French aren’t just taught — they’re naturally woven into the children’s everyday experiences.

From morning greetings and mealtimes to stories, songs, creative activities, outdoor adventures and play, children hear and use all three languages in meaningful, age-appropriate ways.

The goal? To make language feel natural, joyful and connected to real life.

Because learning three languages doesn’t have to mean three lessons. Sometimes, it simply means growing, playing and discovering together — in three languages.

School holidays are just around the corner — and next week, we’re kicking off 2 weeks of amazing adventures! 🏕️

This autumn, we’re bringing the magic of the great outdoors to our kindergarteners with our “Let’s Go Camping!” holiday program. 🏕️

Across two fun-filled weeks, our campers will be busy playing, exploring, creating and learning together — from nature hunts and forest days to yoga, rock painting, shelter challenges, parachute games and creative camp activities. 🎨🌳🪂

🔥 We’ll gather around our very own tissue-paper campfire for stories and songs, enjoy a special camp picnic with Bilbo & friends, get creative in our Camp Art Studio, and finish our adventure with a Camp Celebration!

October 5–16 will be packed with friendship, imagination, outdoor adventures and plenty of autumn fun. 🍁 We can’t wait!

Pumpkins — that means only one thing: autumn is here! 🍁🤩

Exploring different shapes, sizes, colours, and textures, the children had the chance to look closely, ask questions, compare, and discover something new together. A simple hands-on activity with lots of little discoveries along the way. 🎃🍂

Supporting independence starts with giving children the opportunity to try.

When a toddler builds with LEGO, prepares pretend food in the play kitchen, chooses what to play with or works out how something fits together, it can be tempting for adults to step in and help.

But sometimes, the most supportive thing we can do is pause and give them time.

Independent play gives children opportunities to:

- make their own choices
- experiment and solve small problems
- practise concentration and persistence
- develop their own ideas and play narratives
- experience the feeling of “I did it myself!”

Of course, toddlers still need connection, supervision and support. Supporting independence isn’t about leaving children to figure everything out alone — it’s about being close enough to help when needed, while allowing them the space to try first.

Sometimes our role is simply to watch, wait and wonder:

“What are you trying to do?”
“What could you try next?”

Because those little moments of “Let me try!” are important steps towards confidence and independence.

A simple copying activity can support so much more than handwriting.

Children practise recognising letters, noticing their order within a word, connecting what they see with what they produce, and developing confidence with written language.

A little glimpse of summer in Meilen. ☀️

Water play, sensory experiences, and spontaneous moments of discovery filled our days.

And in between all the splashing and playing, language was growing too: new words, conversations, questions, stories, and the many ways children learn to express themselves and understand the world around them.

Learning doesn’t always happen at a table. Sometimes, it happens barefoot by the lake.
