Summer School: Science and Policy - How to Bridge the Gap?

Scientific discoveries play an essential role in shaping the future of society, but there is still a significant gap between science and policymaking. In this 5 days ETH-EPFL summer school participants from diverse backgrounds will learn how to break barriers between scientists, policymakers and the general public.

If you are a PhD student and you are interested in the topic, then apply! The school will take place near Interlaken, in Beatenberg, from 10.07 to 14.07, registrations open until May.

Humanitarian Aid Collection for Ukraine: 18.10, 21.10, 15.11 and 18.11 in both Centrum and Hönggerberg. Warm, waterproof clothing and other outdoor gear is needed. More information at https://www.aveth.ethz.ch/aidcollectionukraine22/

This fall semester, AVETH and VSETH have teamed up with Ukraine Hilfe Graubünden to collect more humanitarian aid for Ukraine. As the winter months are drawing nearer and, due to the power shortages and infrastructure damages, there is a great need for warm, waterproof clothing and other outdoor gear. Find a list of the needed items at the link above.

The collection campaign takes place over 4 days and is located on both the Hönggerberg and Central campuses. The locations are SOL B4 and HXE B2, which are open from 10:00 to 12:00 and 15:00 to 17:00 on the 18th of October, 21st of October, 15th of November, and 18th of November.

AVETH just had its 58th General Assembly! We welcomed new members and said goodbye to old ones.

Autumn is soon here, then let’s keep the summer vibes and go for a walking tour in the Zurich-West region, a trendy part of the city.
Join us for an enriching, guided two h Zurich West tour. A professional guide will show us Zurich's re-urbanized old industrial part between Toni Areal and Josefwiese (including Prime Tower, Freitag Store, Schiffbau, Technopark, Puls 5, etc.).

Join us for one of the most popular hikes in Switzerland - Pizol 5-lakes-hike!
High above the timberline, a mountain trail winds through the ever-changing alpine landscape, passing five crystal clear mountain lakes - each with its own unique character - and showing the glimpses of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Sardona.

AVETH will pay the price of the gondola lift. Also, at the end of the hike, we will visit a local restaurant. The first drink with an ice cream/dessert will be also covered by AVETH!

Do you like to dance? If your answer is yes, then this event is for you! It doesn’t matter if you are a complete beginner or a pro dancer, come learn and practice your salsa moves at the Salsa class & social! For the first time, AVETH and Tanzquotient are joining forces to bring a bit of Latin America to you in a chill, fun, and social occasion!


We will start at 16h with a warmup, which will be followed by a 1h class, offered in two levels: beginner and intermediate. Finally, you will have the chance to practice your new moves and socialize with your peers over the social dance, which starts at 17h10. Bring your good mood, your partner and/or your friends to enjoy this experience to the fullest! Snacks and refreshments will be provided by AVETH.
