Buzzy and buzzing as always!
Today we combined origami with CleverKidz painting techniques and created a cool ocean full of colourful fish. Just what we needed on a hot summer day! The children folded, painted, glued, imagined, and brought their underwater worlds to life.

Welcome to the magical forest classroom of Wataboushi Preschool!

No need to say that I fell completely in love with this place.

This is the kind of environment where children can grow in deep connection with nature and, just as importantly, with themselves. A place where the forest becomes the teacher, the trees become the walls, and every path, platform, rope, slope, and log invites discovery.

Look closely at the height of some of these platforms. No artificial borders. No unnecessary barriers. Instead, there is space: space to think, to assess, to try, to stop, to continue, to trust oneself.

And this is what I found so powerful: younger children simply do not climb where they are not ready to climb. Older children know how far they can go. The environment does not remove all risk; it teaches children how to meet risk with awareness, confidence, and respect.

Ilyan, at 2.4 years old, knew exactly where to stop. And that, to me, says everything.

Children deserve places like this, places where independence is not taught through words, but through real experience. Where courage grows quietly. Where the body, mind, and heart learn together.

Art with Miki at Wataboushi Preschool in Japan is a beautiful reminder that children’s art has no limits. Creativity unfolds freely without the need to be neat, small, or “correct.”
