„Could you imagine your next dental treatment being performed by a miniature robot? 🤖🦷“
At our Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry Prothetik Universität Zürich , Center of Dental Medicine, University of Zurich Universität Zürich UZH , Professor .e.jung , PD Dr. Jenni Hjerppe , and .med.dent.marc.balmer initiated and lead the development of the Miniature Intraoral Robot (MIR).
The vision is simple: based on a digital treatment plan, MIR will prepare a tooth with exceptional precision, allowing a final restoration to be fabricated and placed within the same appointment while preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible.
We have already demonstrated the technical feasibility of automated tooth preparation and achieved a high level of precision with a working prototype. MIR represents an exciting step towards the future of digital dentistry and has the potential to fundamentally transform restorative dental workflows.
A huge thank you to all colleagues and research teams at Department of Biomedical Engineering - University of Basel , , and , as well as everyone who contributed to this interdisciplinary collaboration. 🙌

✨ spannende Einblicke in aktuelle Behandlungskonzepte gewinnen

Today’s seminar gave us exciting insights into the future of implant dentistry 🤖🦷✨
From “Robots in China – Powering Every Part of Life” by our scholar Lumina, we explored the fascinating world of navigated and automated implant placement, robotics, and how technology is shaping the next generation of dental workflows 🚀
Followed by an inspiring lecture from Prof. Dr. Daniel Thoma @:“Mastering Soft Tissues – Substitutes Instead of Autogenous Tissue?”A highly relevant discussion about soft tissue management, biomaterials, and the future potential of tissue substitutes in modern implant therapy 🔬🪡
So many exciting perspectives between innovation, biology, and clinical reality 🙌

Another inspiring seminar afternoon at the Clinic for Reconstructive Dentistry ✨🦷
This time with the brilliant Dr. Pune Paqué, diving into the world of esthetic restorations on adjacent natural teeth — from preparation design and material selection to long-term outcomes and evidence-based decision making. 📚🤓
From veneers and minimally invasive concepts to literature discussions and clinical guidelines for predictable esthetic success… an incredibly insightful lecture full of practical pearls and thoughtful discussions. 👀✨💎
Because great esthetics are never just about beauty —
they’re about biology, function, precision, and long-term stability. 🤍

What a powerful continuation of the week ✨🧠🦷
We kicked things off with an inspiring case presentation by Min Liu, dentist from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and our Scholar—truly enjoyed the insights and clinical finesse 👏
Followed by Isabella Neme Ribeiro dos Reis, diving deeper into peri-implantitis 🔬
From updated concepts to refined treatment strategies—reminding us how critical early diagnosis and tailored therapy really are.
And then: big picture thinking with PD Dr. Spyridon N. Papageorgiou, MSc 🦷➡️
“Orthodontic management of space, soft/hard tissues, and biology with the prosthetic goal in mind”
Because in the end…
it’s not just about moving teeth—
it’s about shaping the foundation for long-term functional & esthetic success. ✨
