This Wednesday, on December 21st, our violin student Sophie Branson (class of Liana Tretiakova) is giving two Mozart Christmas-Gala concerts (at 14:00 and 18:00) at the Tonhalle Zürich. She will perform Mozart Violin Concerto No. 3 with the Zürcher Symphoniker under the baton of Maestro Heiko Mathias Förster. This is the first time in the school 13-year history when the ZBSM student is playing at the Tonhalle Zürich – one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world, and from the bottom of our hearts we wish Sophie to shine!!!

We are happy to introduce you one of the winners in the soloists which you will be able to listen at our online edition. This year we received applications from 30 countries!

Born in Boston in 2012, of Bulgarian and Austrian descent, Alexander was inspired for music and piano by Ivan Minekov, a Bulgarian pianist and passionate teacher, who gave him his first piano lesson at the age of 5 in Zurich (Switzerland). After moving to Linz (Austria) at the age of 8, Alex keeps in regular online contact with Ivan and continues learning piano with Zhania Pohn, a brilliant classical pianist and student at the Anton Bruckner University.
In 2020, Alex’s love and talent for music and his teachers’ efforts received highest recognition by, among others, the Upper Austria 2020 state contest “Prima la musica” (1st place with distinction and special prize of the music association tonart, by the First International Online Piano Competition “Art talents” in Moscow, Russia (first prize) and by the 2020 Grand Prize Virtuoso International Piano Competition (1st place and invitation to perform at The Beethoven House in Bonn, Germany).
