If your school still uses paper-based A2 Key📝 you have one session left to plan your next move.
One final session on 13 June, before the Cambridge English paper-based A2 Key format closes permanently.
For those currently using this option, it's a practical moment to look at what comes next.
Two fully recognised alternatives are available:
→ A2 Key Digital - the same Cambridge English qualification, with faster results and more flexible scheduling.
→ A2 Key for Schools - designed for younger learners, available in both paper and digital formats, and carrying identical recognition to the standard A2 Key.
❗Worth noting: "for Schools" does not appear on the certificate itself.
Both pathways lead to the same Cambridge English qualification. The only difference is format and fit.
If your school uses A2 Key and hasn't yet thought about the transition, now is a good time to start.

🎓 DET or Cambridge English Exams — Helping Learners Choose with Confidence
As educators, we all want to guide learners toward qualifications that genuinely support their future studies, mobility, and careers. With newer options like the Duolingo English Test (DET) gaining visibility, it’s helpful to look at how they compare to the long-established Cambridge English Exams — especially in the Swiss context.
🌟 Where DET can play a role
✔️ It’s convenient, fully online, and delivers quick results.
✔️ It can be a short-term solution when a specific institution explicitly accepts it.
🌟 Why Cambridge English Exams continue to stand out
✔️ They’re grounded in decades of research and reflect real communicative ability, not just test performance.
✔️ Recognition is broad across Switzerland and Europe — from schools and universities to employers and government bodies.
✔️ The exams assess all four skills authentically (including live speaking), giving learners practical confidence for academic and professional life.
✔️ Preparation for Cambridge builds lasting skills, not only “test readiness.”
🌟 For Swiss schools and educators
While DET may be useful in certain circumstances, learners aiming for dependable recognition, long-term skill development, and a strong demonstration of their English abilities are better served with Cambridge English Exams. They offer a reliable, future-proof pathway — and a clearer reflection of what learners can do with the language.
