After a substantial developmental process, which has also seen the success of the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) 'Religions from the inside' on the FutureLearn website, the Re.Te. Institute (“Religions and Theology”) now offers an English-language master’s degree dedicated to promoting interreligious dialogue, completely online. The "Master of Arts in Interreligious Dialogue: Science, Philosophy and Theology of Religions" started yesterday and is now available alongside the existing Italian-language degree, which is celebrating being online for over ten years.
The Master's programme, realized in collaboration with the eLab, USI Lugano aims to provide knowledge of the main world religions and the possibility of cooperation and dialogue between them. Religious representatives and professors from several important European and international universities have taken part in the project to give their contribution.
Consisting of four semesters, fully accessible online, the Master brings together students from different parts of the world who want to learn more about these subjects. The course is organised in such a way that it can be followed from different areas and time zones so that everyone can follow and enjoy the lessons online in the same way. Furthermore, the programme is enriched with some important interactive spaces and distance eLearning activities, such as the ePortfolio.
The programme of the two-year master course covers basic knowledge of the five major world religions, as well as in-depth studies on 'religions and law', 'religions and ethics', 'theology and philosophy' and 'religions and violence'. The focus of the course is philosophical and theological, investigating the theoretical presuppositions of each religion and seeing from these how dialogue is not only considered in potentiality by each religion but - moreover - encouraged as necessary.
