The past month, Prof. Olivier Lorentz presented a lesson about the sensory systems to upper secondary school students from “𝑴𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆́𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒔 𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆́” of the School of Health Sciences. The Sense is not only teaching undergraduate students, but it also wears its expertise to future students who are going to work in the field of health. 👨‍🎓👩‍🎓

Prof. Micah Murray was invited to present his expertise in multisensory aspects and sensory substitutions. The twenties of students could benefit from this unique and fascinating expertise. 👨‍🏫👃

This 28 February marks Rare Disease Day. Rare diseases are rare only when considered individually and when they affect less than one person in 2000. In their entirety, they are extremely numerous - about 7,000 rare diseases have been identified. Because of their complexity and , rare diseases can sometimes be complicated to diagnose and manage. 🔍📶

To this end, Maraval - maladies rares valais - seltene krankheiten wallis brings its expertise in this field to the canton of Valais. From March 2023 onwards, it will also provide competent support in the High Valais. This 8th International Day aims to connect the international community to women and girls in , strengthening the links between science, and for future-oriented strategies. Last Friday, Travelise organised the annual Sense . The casino of the from Une-bonne-idée.ch tested the olfactory senses and the sense of taste of the various members of The Sense. Gianluca Giacchi had a good nose for it. 🍷🎰

Afterwards, our members affiliated shared a delicious meal at the restaurant La Rouvenettaz & Bar à Huîtres . This annual outing allows us to strengthen the bonds of our members in order to face the that 2023 will bring! 🍽🎉

Thanks to the generous support of its founding institutions, The Sense Innovation and Research Center is proud to support four research projects in its inaugural call that aims to provide a better understanding of and better solutions for sensory health. 🧠🔬

The call for proposals required applicants to work across the CHUV / Centre hospitalier universitaire vaudois, HES-SO Valais Wallis and Université de Lausanne and to formulate projects with the potential for yielding concrete results within a year’s time. Proposals were evaluated by The Sense’s external Scientific Advisory Board, who provided their report to The Sense’s council for validation. 🔍1️⃣
