First week of the 26/27 school year, and tomorrow it's already done.

We opened with orientation: teacher introductions, a walk through the handbook and what the year ahead looks like, tutor group time and a look at the clubs on offer. Then the icebreakers, including social scenarios and the spaghetti and marshmallow tower challenge, which is always a fair test of who plans first and who just starts building.

Some new faces, some returning ones, and everyone spent a bit of time on the same question: what would I like to get better at, or achieve this year? The board filled up with study routines, better planning, maths, spreading work out more evenly, and a few honest ones about talking to new people and asking more questions.

That is where the personalised side of things starts for us. Small groups mean those notes do not just stay on the wall, they shape how the year is set up for each student.

A good few days. One more to go 🙂

An IGCSE year is where the habits get built.

Students come to us at different starting points, with different gaps and very different levels of confidence. Over the course, they learn how to plan revision, how to sit an exam properly, and how to work at a pace that actually suits them. The grades follow from that.

Our IGCSE results:

44% at grades 7 to 9 (A and above)
Average grade 6 (B)
94% pass rate

Small classes, subject teaching that adapts to the student, and learning coaching every two weeks.

Congratulations to our IGCSE students. You have set yourselves up well for what comes next.

The school year starts before the students do.

Our team has been back in this week for training and planning, and for the work that gets a school ready: classrooms, lesson plans, materials, and preparation for the students joining us.

We are looking forward to this one. New students, a full year ahead, and a team that is ready for it.

Doors open Monday 🙂

Some messages stay with you.

We are small on purpose. No more than 80 students on one campus and classes of no more than 12, which means every teacher knows every student and there is room to treat each one as an individual.

If you are considering a change of school, we would be glad to talk. Book a campus visit via the link in bio.

We are not an academically selective school.

We do not choose the students most likely to produce the best results. We take students as they are: the fast learners, the athletes and performers, the students who never quite fitted into a rigid timetable, and we teach them how to work, progress and succeed.

Our iAL / A Level results:

100% pass rate
Average grade B
48% at A–B
81% at A–C

Personalised pacing, flexible subject combinations and weekly learning coaching. Five years of consistent exam success.

Congratulations to every one of our students. We are incredibly proud of what you have achieved.

Ask our graduates how they got to university and you will hear a different story every time. One arrived with beginner English. One switched school systems partway through. One studied alongside board meetings and travel. Today they are studying in Switzerland and abroad.

That variety is no coincidence. It is how the school is built. Our I/GCSE and I/A Level programme is flexible enough to be arranged around each student's abilities, circumstances and ambitions, so the pathway fits the person rather than the other way round.

And for anyone quietly wondering whether an unusual start narrows the options later: swipe through.

If you are thinking about the route ahead, we would be happy to talk it through. Book a campus visit: https://calendly.com/lucerneinternationalschool/campus-visit 🤍

Every school says it is different. Here is what that actually means at LIS.

No two students here follow the same timetable. We teach the British curriculum, IGCSE and A Levels, in classes of no more than 12, with daily in-person lessons and a learning coach beside every student.

Grades 10 to 12, ten minutes from Lucerne. Enrolment is possible at any time of year.
