📊 The analysis confirms that performing hip fracture surgery within 48 hours of admission significantly reduces short-term and long-term mortality, while also minimising severe complications such as pressure sores, infections, and thromboembolic events.

👋 Do biological adjuvants significantly improve union rates in primary isolated subtalar arthrodesis?

📊 A systematic review published in EFORT Open Reviews analysed comparative studies evaluating autografts, allografts, synthetic bone graft substitutes, and primary fusion without grafting.

🌟 The findings reveal no statistically significant differences in overall union rates, time to fusion (12.7–14.0 weeks), or post-operative functional outcomes across graft types. Autografts achieved 97% union, synthetic substitutes and graftless approaches reached 96%, while allografts yielded 92%.

📊 Because fusion rates remain high across options, foot and ankle surgeons should evaluate donor-site morbidity and surgical cost when choosing whether to add biological adjuvants.

👋 Choosing the right surgical intervention for end-stage ankle osteoarthritis can be complex—should you perform Total Ankle Replacement (TAR) or Ankle Fusion (AF)?

🌟 While both TAR and ankle arthrodesis offer excellent pain relief, key differences lie in mobility, biomechanics, and long-term risk profiles. TAR preserves joint motion, allowing for a more natural gait and lowering stress on surrounding joints.

📊 A systematic review published in EFORT Open Reviews analysed data from over 1,100 ankles to identify key risk factors for post-operative recurrence. The findings highlight that post-operative talar tilt angle plays a major role in recurrence, along with factors like Generalised Joint Laxity (GJL), hindfoot varus alignment, and the condition of the ATFL remnant.
