Happy Graduation to all of our amazing Steger Center alumni! We couldn’t be prouder 🎓🌎 Read below to see what a few of our most recent graduates are planning to do next ⬇️

Sam Mostow 🧡 Hello! My name is Sam Mostow and I participated in the European Affairs in a Global Context program in Fall 2024. I am graduating with a degree in Multimedia Journalism with minors in Political Science and Music. My post-grad plans include pursuing a job in journalism and my experience at the Steger Center has definitely shaped my experience at VT and beyond!

Sami Burgess 🩵 Hi! My name is Sami and I studied abroad at the Steger Center with Salute in the Fall 2023 and returned as a TA for this program in Fall 2025. Salute was one of the most impactful experiences in my undergraduate degree. Not only did I get to immerse myself in the Swiss and Italian cultures, I also got hands on experience with food production and sustainable practices used in Europe! I am so grateful for the lifelong friends I made through this program. Next year, I will begin my international masters program in Europe to learn more about sustainable food production.

Emily Barcalow 💚 Hi! My name is Emily and I was part of PGS 2024. Study abroad was a huge part of my undergraduate experience and taught me so much about myself and my goals for post-grad. Next year I am returning to the Steger Center as the Graduate Assistant for the 26-27 academic year! I am so excited to pursue my Master’s in Political Science through VT while getting the opportunity to spend another year in Riva! I can’t wait to meet all the new students and help get them settled in our beautiful home away from home:)

Christina Marina 💜 Hi! My name is Christina and I studied abroad at the Steger Center for PGS in 2024. As a graduating senior, PGS was such a memorable part of my undergrad experience - I grew not only as a student surrounded by the best faculty, but also as a person filled with so much more confidence! It truly was a one of a kind experience that makes it hard to put into words. Next year, I will be attending law school, but will continue to day dream about my time abroad❤️

Highlights from the Spring 2026 cohort’s final weekend at the Steger Center!

Students in Architecture, PGS, and CS showed off their hard work from the semester at the academic showcase, we took a group trip up Monte Generoso, students competed in one last activity - the Amazing Race of Riva, and we finished it all off with a special Farewell dinner. What a great semester! 🇨🇭📚

Recap: Second Coordinated Travel! From March 28 to April 5 students in Presidential Global Scholars, Computer Science, and Architecture traveled across Europe with their faculty. Swipe to see what they got up to ⏭️

PGS: PGS students traveled to the Alpine valley of Poschiavo to learn about cultural food practices and conduct oral interviews of the locals in the area. They learned how to make cheese at the Caseficio Poschiavo, visited a berry farm, forged for wild grasses, and toured Reselli herbs. They also visited places such as Alp Grum and the historic museum of Casa Tome, learning more about the historical aspects of the region.

CS: The CS students started the week off in Paris! The group spent three mornings with EFREI, a Paris university they work with, watching presentations and networking. Then, they ventured off to the city to view sights such as the Eiffel Tower, arc de triomphe, a river cruise of the city, and to eat a bunch of crepes😋! In the second half of the week, the group travelled to Lausanne, Switzerland to collect data for their Data Visualization class. In addition, the cs students walked around the city of Lausanne, viewing sights such as towers and cathedrals, as well as watching the sunset on lake Geneva.

Architecture: Check out@vtarchschool and for a recap of their trip to Spain!
