24/10/2023
Dear colleagues,
The 24th International Migration Conference will be held at the University of Klagenfurt in Austria from 12 to 14 June 2024. The conference will focus on "Global Citizenship Education" and "Current Social Challenges in the Context of Migration and 'Sustainable Global Social Work'".
With the conference theme "Global Citizenship Education" (DE/E), the 24th International Migration Conference sets a focus that opens up different perspectives on international migration movements and migration societies. The concept of Global Citizenship Education (GCED) brings together different - partly overlapping, partly opposing - traditions: On the one hand, GCED as a political-programmatic concept, which is primarily supported by UNESCO as the educational organisation of the United Nations as an answer to the challenges and crises of the present, and on the other hand, a philosophical concept that attempts to integrate political pedagogies such as migration and diversity education, peace education, political education, democracy education in the sense of transformative learning.
In addition to the GCED, the International Migration Conference is concerned with studies on current challenges in the context of migration. Of particular interest are interdisciplinary and international studies on education, participation, marginalisation or cultures of memory. In addition, papers will be presented on "Sustainable Global Social Work", "Philosophy and Migration", as well as on denationalisation and sustainable development and peace-building approaches for migration societies.
We look forward to receiving your proposals for panels and papers. Please submit them by 15 December 2023 via the following website: www.migrationskonferenz.ch
Detailed information on the conference can be found at https://www.migrationskonferenz.ch/call-for-papers/
We look forward to welcoming you and your colleagues to Klagenfurt!
On behalf of the Programme Committee,
Hans Karl Peterlini and Jasmin Donlic
