Your French doesn't need to be perfect. It needs to be spoken." 🇨🇭

Isabelle explains why expats go blank when speaking French, and why regular, low-pressure practice beats another grammar exercise.

🥧 Happy Lundi du Jeûne to our Vaud friends!

Today is a public holiday here in the canton of Vaud (plus Neuchâtel and part of the Bernese Jura), the Monday following the Jeûne fédéral, Switzerland's national day of thanksgiving.

Fun fact: tradition says the only proper dish for lunch today is a tarte aux pruneaux (plum tart) 🥧. Simple, seasonal, and very Swiss.

Interesting twist: Geneva doesn't observe this one at all, they had their own separate Jeûne genevois back on September 10! Switzerland and its many little cantonal calendars 😊

Enjoy the day off, Vaudois! 🇨🇭

👉 Curious about the quirky little traditions that make each canton different? That's the kind of everyday French and Swiss culture we love sharing at Prêt à Parler.
