A new school year begins with connection. 💙

At ISBerne, we welcome and connect — an important part of our mission and of everyday life in our school.

From familiar faces returning to campus to families joining us for the first time, the start of a new school year is about finding your place and feeling part of the community.

Across classrooms, playgrounds — and even a few muddy puddles — it has been wonderful to see our campus filled with learning, laughter and life again.

Welcome to the 2026–27 school year. We are very pleased to have you with us!

What is different about an international school?

It is more than learning in English or sharing a classroom with students from around the world. It is an education shaped by different perspectives, strong relationships, and a learning environment that encourages children to be curious, confident, and open-minded.

At ISBerne, students are part of a close-knit community where every child is known and valued. Our International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes provide a globally recognised education that supports students as they move between schools, countries, and future opportunities.

At the same time, an international education does not mean being disconnected from Switzerland. German and French language learning, Outdoor Education Week, Ski & Skate Fridays, and other local experiences help our students build meaningful connections with the country they call home.

As the only International Baccalaureate World School in the Bern region, ISBerne brings together a global outlook with more than 65 years of connection to the local community.

International learning. Rooted in Switzerland.

Since opening our doors in 1961, the International School of Berne (ISBerne) has been part of the Bern community, providing a valuable international education in English to generations of students.

Over 65 years, our school has grown and evolved, while remaining committed to what matters most: providing a trusted, supportive environment where children can learn, grow, and prepare for their future.

For families, our long history brings reassurance. It reflects decades of experience, strong educational foundations, and an enduring commitment to the students and families we serve — both locally and internationally.

As we begin a new school year, we are proud of the many students, families, teachers, and staff who have shaped ISBerne since 1961, and we look forward to continuing this tradition for generations to come.
