Very few careers move from engineering to diplomacy to space. Dr. Hamdullah Mohib's has done all three.

He trained as an engineer and worked at Intel. He went on to serve as Afghanistan's Ambassador to the United States, and then as its National Security Adviser, holding two of the most demanding roles a person can hold. Today he leads Orbitworks in Abu Dhabi, a satellite manufacturing venture that gives nations their own capability to access data from space. He has been named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader.

Dr. Mohib joins Eastwood Montreux as one of the 53 Leaders, connected to the Planet and Technologies strands of our IMPACT Program. His career offers students a distinctive perspective on how technical expertise, public service, and long-term strategic thinking can work together.

In most schools, the afternoon is already planned before the student arrives.

At Eastwood Montreux, we start with a different question:

What does this student want to do with it?

Through our IMPACT Program, students have dedicated time to pursue the interests, ideas and ambitions that are meaningful to them, with an IMPACT Coach beside them to help turn those ambitions into something real.

That distinction matters.

We are not simply offering more activities. We are giving students greater ownership of their education and the support to do something meaningful with that freedom.

The afternoon is not what happens after school.

At Eastwood Montreux, it is part of what school is for.

When your child is living away from home, “Are they safe?” means much more than security.

Are they known? Is someone paying attention? Do they have an adult they trust? Will someone notice when something is not quite right?

These are the questions that matter to parents, and they matter to us too.

Eastwood Montreux is intentionally small. That creates a community where relationships can be close, students can be known individually, and the adults around them are part of their everyday lives.

Some of the jobs at Eastwood Montreux do not exist in the traditional school system.
IMPACT Coach is one of them.

We created the role because the IMPACT Program is not an extracurricular add-on. It is a fundamental part of how students learn and grow at Eastwood Montreux.

Our IMPACT Coaches work alongside students as they explore what genuinely interests them, helping them take an idea further, find the right people and resources, test possibilities and turn ambition into action.

New education needs new roles.

Some people build things that make money. A smaller group builds things that reach people in the worst moments of their lives.

Patrick Meier belongs to the second group. He is a pioneer in humanitarian technology, using data and mapping to coordinate disaster response, and one of the early voices on how drones can be used for good rather than harm. His work has taken him to more than 60 countries and into partnerships with organizations working on the front line.

Today he helps founders build ventures that are good for the planet. He joins Eastwood Montreux as one of the 53 Leaders, connected to the Technologies and Planet strands of our IMPACT Program, where students learn that the point of building something is what it does for the world.

A school day does not need to consume a student's entire day to be rigorous.
And that opens up a much more interesting question:
What should young people be able to do with the rest of their time?
At Eastwood Montreux, that space is intentional. It is where students can pursue projects, sport, creativity, technology, the outdoors and interests that may eventually become much more than interests.
Academics matter enormously.
So does everything a young person has the time to become beyond them.
