Cairo pt.1
It is not an understatement that Cairo triggered the hell out of me!
Tons of challenges on a logistic, communication and stimuli level, it just is a LOT and it came clear pretty quickly that planning ahead is pointless in Egypt (Not sure why I planned ahead anyway). Its dirty and loud as hell, chaotic and it seemed that all the beauty and elegance of the ancestors is gone.
I had a slight Mumbai flashback and found myself crying trying to get a bus/transport/anything (!!) to get out of there 😅
In a moment of frustration (aka anger) a Saudi guy appeared, helped me calm and the encounter revealed that its sometimes not about the “perfect” plan, but a meaningful conversation you have with a stranger.
The most of Old Cairo is literally falling apart, whilst they just build new stuff somewhere else. Yet there was still a fascination of all the things (beautiful and ugly) that co-exist there in such a strong polarity.
The moment I sat in the car towards the Red Sea was a huge relief and all that separated me from the peace I was graving, was a 8 h drive through the Sinai desert in the dark….
To be continued…
