Too much pressing and squeezing (tension) will not allow you to feel the weight of your club head destroying any chance you have of swinging the golf club successfully.

Pressure and tension is a killer when it is applied excessively when holding and swinging a golf club.

Take this expert advice from HARRY VARDON (1870- 1937), a professional golfer from Jersey.

His grip is pictured below from his timeless golf book, THE GIST OF GOLF first published in 1922. With this grip Harry Vardon won six Open Championships and one U.S. Open, his grip is still acknowledged as today’s benchmark for best practice when holding (gripping) a golf club.

Unless you have experienced playing golf tournaments, this quote from Ben Hogan may sound strange, but I could not agree more that there is a massive difference from golf and tournament and it is something that makes the game of golf so fascinating….
