"We cannot just create an island."
At our recent workshop in Mozambique, Carlos shared an honest realization: it is incredibly easy for large institutions to build walls and stop collaborating.

His breakthrough? Recognizing that true progress means tearing those walls down and bringing everyone to the table.

Listen to his vision for a connected future.

There are classrooms in South Africa where the walls are shipping containers, where 80 or 100 students share a single room, and where the school meal is the only food some children will eat that day.

The educators leading those schools came to this workshop carrying all of that with them. Principals and teachers from communities where the job description goes far beyond teaching, covering the roles of social worker, parent, and everything in between.

Educators Without Borders International is proud to stand alongside educators who carry this much and keep going.

Unity does not happen on its own. It is built deliberately, in rooms where people who think differently choose to sit together and work through hard questions.

That is what happened at St. Paul’s University in Nairobi. Educators from across Kenya spent time together examining what inclusion genuinely requires, not as a concept but as a daily practice in classrooms and communities.

Education lives in the spaces between lessons, in the feedback given, the mistakes welcomed, and the moments a student feels genuinely seen. Educators and learners gathered to explore what outcome-based education looks like when it moves off the page and into practice, building classrooms where every voice carries weight.

“When an old man plants a tree, he knows he’ll never enjoy its shade.”

That’s the kind of leadership being built in South Africa’s classrooms.
At EWBI’s Quality Improvement, Leadership & Technology Integration workshop in Pretoria, principals, teachers and union leaders came together for one purpose — to become the leaders their communities deserve.

Because real leadership isn’t a title. It’s the legacy you leave for every child who comes after you.

When learning feels impossible, the brain might just be trying to survive. 🧠
We often mistake a lack of focus or a blank page for a behavior issue, but the reality is deeply biological. Chronic stress shifts a child’s nervous system into survival mode—dimming the areas of the brain needed for memory, learning, and absorption.
The good news? It doesn't always take a clinical intervention to change the narrative.
• A predictable routine
• A teacher who notices
• A moment of calm
These small signals tell a child's nervous system: you are safe here.
As advocated by UNESCO and UNICEF, it's time to treat mental health as foundational school infrastructure, not just a side program. We constantly measure what students know, but rarely do we measure if they felt safe enough to try.
Is your school safe enough to learn in? 🌱📚

A child's brain can't learn if it's just trying to survive.

Stress physically alters how students process information, weakening memory and focus. Safe classrooms, SEL programs, and trusted teachers are the key to reversing this.
