The opening ceremony of the Global Summit 2026 – Fostering Hope for Children did not just talk about children; it began by listening to them.

We are honoured to share this special video message delivered straight from the hearts and minds of children from the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC).

In this opportunity, Yazan from Palestine, Sathvi from India, Jaskiran from Kenya, and Nina from Serbia took center stage to share their profound, lived reflections on hope, faith, and spiritual development.

"Hope is not something we give to children. It is something we cultivate with them. This is why nurturing the spiritual development of children is an act of hope."

—Rev. Keishi Miyamoto, President of Arigatou International

In his video address to the Global Summit 2026 - Fostering Hope for Children, Rev. Miyamoto outlined a profound, actionable roadmap for our shared responsibility toward the world's children.

🔺 Create Safe Environments: We must create safe and inclusive environments where every child feels respected and protected.

🔺 Nurture Spiritual Development: Children's innate capacities, such as empathy, compassion, a sense of wonder, and self-awareness, form the very foundation for resilience, ethical living, and peaceful relationships.

🔺 Bridge Faiths and Cultures: We must work across faiths and cultures to address division and to model respect for diversity and solidarity.

🔺 Defend Child Dignity: We must stand firmly for the rights and dignity of every child, using our moral voice to challenge harmful practices and promote their well-being.

When we commit to cultivating this inner life, we do more than provide temporary safety. We help children develop a deep sense of meaning, connection, and responsibility toward themselves, others, and the world, empowering them not only to cope with adversity, but also to transform themselves.

🇻🇦 We are at the Vatican City today for the first day of the Global Summit 2026 – Fostering Hope for Children.

We are deeply honored to share that the President of Arigatou International, Rev. Keishi Miyamoto, has been recognized as a "Hero of Hope" by the Society for Global Flourishing for his outstanding efforts to support the flourishing of children around the world.

The Heroes of Hope Honorees are individuals whose lives and work embody the quiet courage, moral imagination, and steadfast compassion required to nurture hope amid adversity. Rev. Miyamoto was awarded for his contributions to advocating for interfaith cooperation to advance the well-being of children worldwide, bringing together people of all walks of life to promote children’s rights.

Maria Lucia Uribe, Executive Director of Ethics Education for Children - Arigatou International - Geneva, received the award on his behalf. Our delegation on the ground also includes Eleonora Mura, Head of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization, and Ornella Barros, Head of Global Advocacy and Coordinator of Prayer and Action for Children.

Children’s voices were centered from the very beginning of this journey. During the opening ceremony, children from the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC), including Yazan (Palestine), Sathvi (India), Jaskiran (Kenya), and Nina (Serbia), shared a powerful video reflecting on hope and spirituality.

This inspiring event is organized by the Human Flourishing Program at Harvard University, World Vision International, and the Society for Global Flourishing, in collaboration with Arigatou International and various partners. The summit will continue tomorrow and the day after.

Ethics education isn’t just content to be taught; it’s a way of being, relating, listening, and acting. 🚌🎒🌟

This past Wednesday, 21 Fellows from the Ethics Education Fellowship came together for a powerful Learning Circle. This space was designed as a dynamic Community of Practice, where participants reflected on their personal and professional growth, country-level achievements, and the challenges they navigated across the two phases of implementation.

The insights shared by our Fellows remind us of the profound depth of this work:

🔸Transforming Ourselves First: Before we can transform classrooms or systems, as educators and leaders, we must examine our own assumptions, biases, and behaviors.

🔸Responding to Real-World Challenges: Ethics education is a practical approach for tackling today's social issues, including discrimination, caste and gender divisions, violence, bullying, digital isolation, and social polarization.

🔸Bridging Theory and Practice: Students aren't just discussing values; they are living them. Through interfaith encounters, environmental action, school exchanges, and community projects, young people are learning to dialogue across differences and drive positive change.

By aligning with national education priorities, curriculum reforms, and teacher training, the Ethics Education Fellowship is helping learners and teachers move beyond theoretical discussions toward concrete changes in behaviour, relationships, and school culture.

Thank you to all the Fellows for your dedication to fostering empathy, collective action, and real-world impact! 🌍✨
