Faith actors are playing a key role in advancing accountability for children affected by armed conflict; they are often present before, during and after conflict, maintaining trusted relationships with affected communities and reaching children where formal institutions and humanitarian actors have limited access.

While they contribute to prevention, community-based monitoring, survivor support, referrals, and reconciliation, they remain insufficiently integrated into formal accountability systems.

The discussion will bring together Member States, United Nations entities, faith-based organizations, child rights organizations, religious leaders, and youth to examine how the policy recommendations can be translated into concrete action at national, regional, and international levels.

Panelists will reflect on practical opportunities for integrating local faith actors into accountability systems through strengthened partnerships, institutional recognition, capacity building, safeguarding standards, and sustainable investment.

The discussion will also explore how implementation of these recommendations can contribute to stronger prevention, community-based monitoring, referrals, child participation, justice and long-term peacebuilding.

Grateful to see our work highlighted at the Children’s Voices Conference by Charles Sturt University.

We have been developing the adaptation of our flagship program, Learning to Live Together, for digital spaces, working closely with the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) in LAC.

Together, we are addressing the urgent need to equip children and adolescents to navigate digital spaces with empathy, critical consciousness, and strong ethical values.

How can educators navigate difficult or polarizing topics without imposing answers? 🤔

Last week, we launched the Ethics Education Fellowship Certificate, bringing together 70+ participants for an inspiring session on addressing controversial issues in education.

Key takeaways:

✅Dr. Angelos Vallianatos • The European Wergeland Centre (EWC): Emphasized that controversy naturally arises whenever issues spark differing viewpoints, making it essential to create spaces where diverse voices can be heard. Rather than presenting a single perspective, education must safeguard students' right to explore all possible truths, equipping them with the critical thinking tools needed to analyze realities, challenge assumptions, and confidently navigate complex controversies.

✅Ana Có • KAICIID: Emphasized that teachers do not need to provide all the answers, but rather hold a structured, caring, and trusting space where discomfort is welcomed as a catalyst for growth. She shared concrete classroom tools to help learners distinguish between facts, values, and opinions while fostering dialogue, empathy, and understanding.

✅Suchith Abeyewickreme • Ethics Education for Children - Arigatou International: Outlined the path from experience to dialogue, showing how tangible activities, like games or hands-on projects, help learners surface assumptions and emotions, encounter diverse perspectives, and practice respectful dialogue, ultimately connecting classroom reflection to real-world ethical action.

The session concluded with participants analyzing a case study, which sparked rich, dynamic discussions.

🗓️The second session will be held on 22 October and will explore how to design gender responsive and inclusive learning environments.

Since 2008, the Learning to Live Together program has been transforming classrooms and communities by equipping teachers, educators, and youth leaders with the tools to nurture ethical values in children.

To date, 5,443 facilitators have been trained, reaching more than 465,713 children across 45 countries, and the movement keeps growing.

Thanks to the unwavering dedication of our trainers and facilitators, Learning to Live Together continues to inspire hearts, open minds, and spark action, empowering children to become agents of positive change.

Congratulations to all educators recognized at the Ethics Education Award Ceremony in Rodrigues! 🇲🇺

The ceremony was held yesterday during the presentation of the Ethics Education School Club Manual and School Exchange Guidelines by the Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Human Resource and the Mauritius National Commission for UNESCO.

Ethics education has been seamlessly integrated into teacher training at the MIE. Through dedicated modules, the initiative has driven clear, positive shifts in educators' mindsets. Since 2023, fellows have trained 148 teachers in 46 schools, reaching over 1,250 learners.

By embedding transformative pedagogy directly into national learning, Mauritius continues to set a powerful standard for empowering young people to become agents of positive change in their communities.

🎥 It was a true joy to witness the official launch of Ethics Education 360 and the Mauritius Culture Trip; an initiative bringing ethics education and cultural heritage to learners across Mauritius.

During the ceremony, our Executive Director, María Lucía Uribe, shared inspiring reflections on how education can connect learning with identity, heritage, and genuine human encounter.

❝ The resource being launched today invites children and young people to encounter Mauritius differently. It gives them the opportunity to discover the histories, cultures, religious places, and communities around them, to ask questions, to understand how different identities and traditions have contributed to the Mauritius of today. And importantly, to learn to see one another with greater curiosity, understanding, and respect. ❞

It was a true joy to be part of the launch of the Ethics Education 360 and the Mauritius Culture Trip, an initiative that brings ethics education and cultural heritage to life for learners across Mauritius.

The resource was officially unveiled by Dr. The Honourable Mahend Gungapersad, Minister of Education and Human Resources, marking a significant milestone for transformative education in the country.

Our Executive Director, Maria Lucia Uribe, addressed the audience during the ceremony, celebrating this vision of education that connects learning with identity, heritage, and living together in peace.

This project is a direct outcome of the Ethics Education Fellowship. We are deeply honored to have been part of this journey alongside the Guerrand-Hermès Foundation for Peace, the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity, International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID), and UNESCO.

How is the Ethics Education Fellowship transforming classrooms into spaces of empathy and action?

The impact speaks for itself:

✅77% of participating learners reported a stronger ability to build friendships across diverse backgrounds.

✅72% gained a deeper understanding of perspectives different from their own.

✅Schools observed a noticeable drop in bullying and conflict, paired with growing confidence and active dialogue among students.

Beyond the classroom, students put these learnings into practice by leading more than 50 learner-led projects.

When children are equipped with ethical awareness, small acts of solidarity ripple into meaningful community change.

No child should ever live in fear of violence. Yet for millions worldwide, this is a daily reality.

The Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in Manila marks a critical opportunity to translate global commitments into real protection. Now, more than ever, governments, agencies, allies, and advocates need to stand for children.

As part of the Group of Friends, Arigatou International is bringing the voice of faith communities to the table ➡️ including through a satellite event on 16 November.

To ensure children’s voices are at the heart of the agenda, we are partnering with Save the Children Schweiz/Suisse on behalf of the CSO Forum to End Violence Against Children to coordinate meaningful child participation throughout the conference.

Ending violence against children is an urgent moral imperative. The time for action is now.

📢 Applications are now open for the Wear My Shoes Award 2026.

The award recognizes grassroots initiatives that are working to end violence against children by bringing together children, faith communities, civil society organizations, families, schools, local authorities, and other community stakeholders.

This year, two winning initiatives will each receive USD 3,000.

Applications are open to community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, grassroots groups, networks, and other local initiatives that have demonstrated results and meaningful child participation.

Applications may be submitted in English, French, Spanish, or Arabic.
