Baobabooks salutes World Children’s Day and encourages children everywhere to express their unique voice

To mark the occasion of , Baobabooks is encouraging children everywhere to engage and write their story. Every child has a unique story to tell – whether it’s an exciting adventure you have imagined, a magical tale about your favorite pet, or a story about your daily life that could make someone smile.

Today, on World Children’s Day, we are inviting you to become part of our global community of young authors on Baobabooks. Visit our website, www.baobabooks.com, to learn more and write your story. Think about it:

World Children’s Day was first established by the in 1954 as Universal Children’s Day and is celebrated on 20 November each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare. 20 November is an important date as it is the date in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. It is also the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

On the occasion of World Teachers Day, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of educators who inspire, guide, and nurture us. Their dedication shapes futures, fostering curiosity and critical thinking. Teachers ignite passions and empower students to reach their potential. Today, we express our heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering commitment to learning and growth.

This year, Baobabooks Education Sàrl joins UNESCO in recognizing the pivotal role that teachers play in shaping the future of education; it’s urgent that we incorporate their perspectives into educational policy and decision-making processes. Who could be better qualified than teachers to shape the hashtag future of education; indeed we should recognize and elevate the important role teachers play in shaping the future and listen to their voice as we think ahead.

Baobabooks is a teacher-led and technology-enabled organization. We strive to support classroom creativity while solving teacher pain points and believe that by doing so, we can help educators to focus more of their time inspiring learners and the generations to come.

We are excited to announce that our Make a Difference Creative Challenge is back!

The challenge invites students to write stories or create artwork inspired by the UN SDGs.

This year, we are partnering with ZNotes to offer a more complete and impactful experience for students globally. To better support the development of writing skills, we are inviting students into a two-step approach with a chance to win prizes!

Let's encourage students to boost their writing skills, unleash their creativity and make the world a better place. The challenge is open for ages 9 - 18.

Key Dates:

✍ Creative Writing Course enrollment on ZNotes platform opens on August 1, 2024.

🎨 Start submitting entries on the Baobabooks platform from August 12.

⌛ All entries must be submitted before 12 a.m. (CET) on September 1, 2024.

Today marks International Human Rights Day and the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Established in 1948, the Declaration champions the rights of every individual universally, transcending distinctions of nationality, location, gender, origin, religion, language, or any other status.

As innovators, educators, and parents, we must recognize the importance and impact of instilling the principles of the Declaration in the next generations. Our commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments aligns with the vision of a world where human rights are not just celebrated on paper but are lived experiences for all.

Let us continue to empower youth with knowledge, empathy, and the understanding that respect for human rights is the foundation upon which societies thrive.

As the Creating Challenge is underway, we thought we would share some of the writing prompts we have created to spark the imagination and creativity of our participants.

Prompt for SDG 1: "What are some causes of poverty in your community? Brainstorm some ideas on how we can help those who are living in poverty."

This is a chance for our young minds to explore issues that surround them and come up with innovative solutions that can make a tangible impact. We believe that every small action counts, and together, we can create a for everyone.
