ABOUT SIA

The Student Initiative on Asia, or SIA, is the premier organization of The Graduate Institute Geneva that caters to all students from Asia and those who have a great interest in the Asian heritage, language, and culture. SIA, being one of the most active student initiatives in Geneva, serves as an avenue for students and like-minded individuals to further their understanding on Asia and

to network and collaborate with projects and activities for the development and deeper appreciation of the Asian society in general. Now on its seventh year, SIA is currently home to more than 100 students with members coming from Asia and from all over of the world. HISTORY

The organization was founded in March 2013 as a result of the talks amongst individuals who have had significant experiences in Asia: those who have worked and lived temporarily in Asia and those students who are nationals of several Asian countries. Recognizing the need to promote and streamline the events, talks and other activities focusing on Asia at the Graduate Institute, SIA was eventually founded. BOARD:

Hello everyone! We hope that your family and loved ones are safe and sound. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for most of our loved ones back home in India. This situation in India is getting worse by the day as for most of us the numbers on the news are turning into names we know. At such a point, we're turning to our community at IHEID for support. In order to support local NGOs who are working with oxygen distribution, we're organising a fund raiser with a garage sale and food and bake sale. The details are mentioned in the poster. We're selling some second hand items that most of us got from back home. We urge all of you to please come and attend it with your friends and stand with us in such tough times. Please remember that all payments will only be accepted by TWINT.
(Do reach out to us in case TWINT doesnt work out for you)

Hello everyone! A protest is being organised against caste-based sexual violence in India especially in the light of the recent Hathras happenings on Saturday (10/10/2020) near the Broken Chair in Geneva.
The Student Initiative on Asia is attempting to mobilise people in support and to volunteer.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED:
🔸On Saturday at 10am, volunteers would be needed to make posters before the protest.

It would be great if we as a student community can come together with our capacities to contribute towards the cause.

🔹Please bring your masks
🔹We will be maintaining social distancing

Ps. Though we will provide art supplies but it’ll be great to have some more. It would also be nice to have extra cardboards if you have some.
