🎗AIDS : Unequal, unprepared, under threat
UNAIDS issued a stark warning that if leaders fail to tackle inequalities the world could face 👉7.7 million AIDS-related deaths over the next 10 years. UNAIDS further warns that if the transformative measures needed to end AIDS are not taken, the world will also stay trapped in the COVID-19 crisis and remain dangerously unprepared for the pandemics to come.
👉Since 24.5 million people were on antiretroviral therapy at the end of June 2019, millions of people could be at risk of harm—both to themselves and others owing to an increased risk of HIV transmission—if they cannot continue to access their treatment. A recent modelling exercise estimated that a six-month disruption of antiretroviral therapy in sub-Saharan Africa alone could lead to 👉500 000 additional AIDS-related deaths.
End inequalities. End AIDS. End pandemics. TOGETHER

South Africa's last white president de Klerk who died on Thursday aged 85, apologised for the crimes committed to people of colour in a video released by his foundation on its website hours after his death.
"It is true that in my younger years, I defended separate development ... I did so when I was a member of Parliament, and I did so as I became a member of cabinet," he termed his last message to the country.
De Klerk, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, is globally seen as a politician who negotiated a peaceful transfer of power from white-minority rule to a black-majority democratic government led by Nelson Mandela. He shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Mandela in 1993. (Reuters)
