As per our earlier email in February informing membership of the Special General Assembly on April 27th at 6 pm CET / 12 pm ET. We have sent a draft presentation and Zoom details via the IO-MBA class lists so you should have received via your iomba.ch email. If you have not received then please email [email protected] and we can email it to you. Please feel free to reach out to that email address with any questions and we will do our best to answer in advance of, or during, the General Assembly.

Hello fellow IO-MBAs,

With the transition of the IO-MBA program in 2020 into the EMBA by the Geneva School of Economics (GSEM) within the University of Geneva (UNIGE), and with the associated reduction in activities relating to IO-MBA, the Alumni Association Executive Committee (EC) has been dormant for the past years. In recent months the last members of the EC have begun to meet to discuss the closure of the IO-MBA Alumni Association as a legal association under the Swiss Civil Code.

It is recommended by the IO-MBA Alumni Association Executive Committee to hold a Special General Assembly at 18:00 on Thursday, April 27, 2023. This email is informing the membership of this scheduled meeting two months in advance in line with article 8.2 of the IO-MBA Alumni Association Statutes. We will provide a list of motions for review, an agenda, and a remote link to access the meeting in a future email -- as this social media group is not secure, please check your iomba.ch email for details or email [email protected] and we provide the meeting details to you.

This meeting will deal with the business of closing the association as a legal association and will provide additional information for the Alumni community going forward about the remaining social media accounts.

Please keep an eye out for the future emails relating to this Special General Assembly and we will strive to answer questions you may have -- understanding that this email account isn't monitored often at this time.

Don't forget the IO-MBA admin is holding Christmas Drinks at the University of Geneva at 5pm, before the Alumni Association General Assembly taking place at 7pm. Dear all Iombees, friends and family,
It's been too long since we've all gotten together, so the alumni association would like to invite everyone to join us for a picnic on August 12 from 14:00 onwards. Let's meet at Baines des Paquis for some swimming, laughs, and a picnic or snacks from the cafe. Tiffany will save a spot towards the lighthouse.
For those up for it, we could stay for the fireworks, or find another spot.

Becoming a coach - New Self Leadership Module at IOMBA (July 31st deadline to respond) - From the Alumni Association

As mentioned in our July newsletter, the IOMBA program is adding a self-leadership module for the 2017/2018 year and is looking for two coaches to support them during the module. Deadline to respond (and ask questions) is July 31st so we encourage anyone interested to send an email to [email protected] as soon as possible. I've included further details below from the July newsletter:

Jean Yves-Mercier has been leading the Self-leadership module in UNIGE since 2007 within the Executive MBA program. Starting next academic year, this module is being offered to IOMBA students as well, as part of a comprehensive approach to career development.
The Self leadership module comprises a number of sessions where coaches guide students towards building a career action plan, position themselves within organizational needs and become further self-aware.

This module kicks off the path to career development support, followed by Professional Skills Training with Deborah Küttemann (practical sessions where students explore job search strategies, go into the different application materials and interviewing skills), and wrapping up with the optional Mentoring Program offered by alumni.

A couple of alumni will have the opportunity to take the Self leadership module next academic year in order to advance their skills, develop their own career and become coaches for the 2017-2018 IOMBA cohort.
