Empower supports the strengthening of institutions (MOH, NIH, academia, NGOs), and the health workforce (doctors, nurses, FLW, supply chain professionals, lab technicians, pharmacists, manufacturing experts, regulators), and delivers large-scale, certified and customized training and skilling in 20 languages to more than 40 countries. We work in the areas of health, education, gender, entrepreneur

ship, emergency response and nutrition. We also support access to medicines by strengthening regulatory authorities and pharmaceutical manufacturing. We have established global, continental and regional partnerships with UN agencies (UNITAR, WHO Academy), Africa CDC (Institute for Workforce Development and their PAVM --for strengthening supply chain, manufacturing, etc), WAHO (to strengthen PHCs and FLW, supply chain) to bring rapid transformation to the workforce and introduce new technologies to consumers. Empower has an in-house team with expertise in specific subject matter (supply chain, regulatory (NMRA), manufacturing, quality, medicine, nursing), learning designers and developers (these include anthropologists, education, knowledge management, instructional and graphic designers), and engineers (software, networking, UI/UX, database, and AI experts, etc.). Our services include education (we offer diplomas and Master’s degrees in partnership with the UN), content digitization of e-learning modules (2-3 min of micro learning), customized digital learning platforms, training and capacity-building activities (face-to-face and virtual), game-based learning using augmented and virtual reality. Our funders and clients include The Gates Foundation, USAID, GIZ, ENABEL, WB, WHO, UNDP, UNFPA, among others.

𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮: 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵. 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀. 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁.

Empower Academy Nigeria is a first-of-its-kind pharmaceutical manufacturing training initiative, developed in strategic partnership with the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC) to strengthen Nigeria’s pharmaceutical workforce, bridge the academia–industry gap, and support local manufacturing capacity.

Through its digital learning platform, the Academy is expanding access to relevant, industry-focused learning for professionals, regulators, academia and industry stakeholders across Nigeria.

As of 1 September 2026, 3,589 learners have registered, 2,081 have enrolled in at least one course, and 807 have completed at least one course.

Learner demand is strongest in critical industry areas, including Assuring Data Integrity in the Manufacture of Medicinal Products, Introduction to Procurement and Supply Chain Management, cGMP: Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA), Inventory Management of Public Health Products, and cGMP: Documentation and Record Keeping.

The Academy’s reach is truly national, with 3,556 users represented across all 36 Nigerian states. Kaduna, Lagos, Nasarawa, Kano and FCT Abuja currently lead participation.

The learner community also reflects the breadth of Nigeria’s health ecosystem, with 45% from Government and Regulatory Bodies, 29% from Universities and Academia, 13% from Industry, and 13% from other sectors.

These numbers go beyond platform growth. They reflect a growing national community building the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to strengthen Nigeria’s pharmaceutical and healthcare workforce.

Developed by Empower School of Health in collaboration with United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), this comprehensive programme equips global health professionals with advanced knowledge and practical competencies across procurement, supply planning, public health commodities, inventory management, storage and distribution, quality assurance, risk management, medical devices and diagnostics, and leadership in global health.

As Director, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Division at the Ministry of Health, Ethiopia, his achievement reflects a strong commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and strengthening health systems through effective procurement and supply chain management.

His journey is a powerful example of how continued professional education can empower health leaders to translate knowledge into meaningful impact within their institutions and countries.

Senator Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso is a Nigerian physician, entrepreneur, corporate governance expert, and institutional leader whose career spans clinical medicine, health systems strengthening, higher education, public policy, and strategic governance. Virtual Session 2 of the Youth Career Accelerator in Health took place on 11th August’26 — practical, honest, and deeply relevant preparation for Geneva. 🌍

Career Readiness, Geneva Preparation & Briefing for the Five-Year Health Career Plan

Four sessions. Four expert voices. One cohort ready for Geneva.
Begoña Santaella Gómez — General Coordinator of Human Resources at UNITAR — delivered an incisive session on what makes a candidate stand out inside international organisations, covering CVs, LinkedIn, and professional introductions as strategic tools for building a credible professional identity.

Dr Ahmed Ogwell — CEO of VillageReach and former Acting CEO of Africa CDC — walked participants through three decades of career navigation, from Kenya's Ministry of Health to global health leadership, with clear and honest lessons on how to build a career that compounds over time.

Henri Fourcault — Director of the Centre for Leadership Development at Empower School of Health — introduced the Five-Year Health Career Plan, a structured framework participants will carry into Geneva and refine through every session, site visit, and mentor conversation.

Mehdi Hani of Referens Clinic Geneva — prepared participants for their Geneva site visits and equipping them with practical observation and question frameworks.

What does it really take to build a career in global health — and how do you position yourself to make it happen? 🌍

On 11 August, the Youth Career Accelerator in Health welcomes one of the most experienced and respected voices in African and global public health for Virtual Session 2.

Expert Speaker: Dr Ahmed Ogwell
Former Vice President for Global Health Strategy, UN Foundation | Former Acting CEO, Africa CDC

With three decades of experience spanning Kenya's Ministry of Health, WHO, Africa CDC, and the UN Foundation, Dr Ogwell has navigated global health at every level — from national health systems to the highest tables of international policy and pandemic response.

He led Africa CDC through the COVID-19 pandemic and multiple disease outbreaks including Ebola, Marburg, and cholera. He has championed global health security, health systems strengthening, and pandemic preparedness across the continent — and is a passionate advocate for youth engagement in public health.

Dr Ogwell will speak on: Optimising Your Health Career Pathway — How Do You Really Position Yourself for a Career in Healthcare?
Participants will hear a candid, experience-led account of a career built across three decades and three continents — with practical insight on how to build the profile, skills, and networks that create real opportunity in global health.

On 11 August, the Youth Career Accelerator in Health welcomes Begoña Santaella Gómez for a practical Virtual Session focused on one of the most important parts of career development: presenting yourself professionally.

A qualified lawyer and journalist, Begoña has more than a decade of experience spanning human rights, international development, institutional capacity building, and organisational development.
Today, at UNITAR, she supports the strengthening of HR policies and practices, staff development, and the creation of diverse, inclusive, and people-centred workplaces across global teams.

Begoña will speak on: CV, LinkedIn & Professional Introduction
Participants will explore how to present their experience more strategically through a strong CV, create a clearer and more compelling LinkedIn profile, and introduce themselves professionally with confidence.

In global health today, data is everything. It drives decisions, shapes policy, and increasingly defines career opportunity. 🌍

The participants in the Youth Career Accelerator in Health will gain a first-hand perspective on the world of health data — from someone who has spent her career at its forefront.

Expert Speaker: Dr Theresa Diaz
President and Co-founder, dataHEARD, Switzerland

A global health expert in epidemiology, implementation research, and monitoring and evaluation, Dr Diaz holds medical and public health degrees from Columbia University and is board-certified in Internal and Preventive Medicine. Her career spans senior roles at the CDC, UNICEF, and WHO — leading international surveillance, child health research, and health information systems across four continents.

She currently leads dataHEARD, a Geneva-based nonprofit strengthening health and environmental data systems worldwide.

Dr Diaz will speak on: Data in Health — From Information to Insight, Impact and Opportunity

She will be speaking on Data in Health: From Information to Insight, Impact and Opportunity — delivered through both in-person and virtual sessions.

Participants will explore what health data means and why it matters, how it is analysed and visualised to support better decisions, and the career pathways and practical lessons from a career built across some of the world's most influential global health institutions.
